Asked to Leave...

History is history, denying that changes nothing. There is a LOT of ugliness in history be it with dogs, people, whatever. History is not the reason for BSL, denying these dogs history is the reason for BSL. People forgetting just what they have is the reason for BSL, history & discussing it are not the problem. Careless OWNERS are the problem.

 

So, wouldn't the best way to fight BSL be for the responsible owners of the breed to not shy away from the public eye, and show that our dogs can be loving parts of society as well?...If she was at a dog park or just letting her dog run free in the park, I'd say, "jeez, you are setting yourself and your dog up for danger."...But she was just minding her own business bring her dog on a walk on a leash. I don't think she should be punished for it...Maybe I am misreading you, but not showing the good of our dogs, will just leave the bad out there. The Media is against us. They will continue to show the negatives. We need to show the positives...

Been there. It's a very sad truth that some people don't want to understand the breed. My pit is the most lovable dog I have ever had (except with the UPS guy!!) Yet my neighbors often give him that look that we all know so well when he goes for a walk. Sad. Their loss.

 

Best thing I've read on this extremely old thread.. If you leave when asked then essentually your admiting your wrong, Some of us have no problem being total assholes when things lke this happen and it's funny how this situation never comes up when I'm walking one of mine cuz i would have no problem telling both 5.0 and the head of the family where they could go. Shame how people just get mad and leave rather than stand your ground and express your right to be where you are. Like good lil sheep.........

 

It's amazing how people can exaggerate. I once saw a pit bull tied to a bench on a walking mall (her not-so-smart owners were in a store), standing there very quietly and I heard someone across the walk talking about how ''someone should call security because there is a pit bull over there barking''. And to think that I met an extremely fear aggressive border collie (so bad it shoulda been put down) a the same place who lunged to bite and got about 6'' from a guy's face. Initially, security was called, but then they left and the owners left an hour later on their own.

 

eventhough this threads older than dirt.......he shoulda just asked the officer for his badge number then filed a complaint.......

 

We get that all the time by me in southern nj.. We goto all these town events where everyone brings there dogs and we always get hassled from people running it cause we have our "vicious pitbulls" at a social event. It almost gets comical!! during the summer a bunch of us would get all of our dogs together which not all were pitbulls. We would walk them on the bvld in this place called Long Beach Island anyway we would have people make smart ass comments, childeren would come up and try and pet our dogs and the parents would run up and grab them and pull them away.. we have had people actually cross the street so they didnt have to walk passed our dogs and when they got by they would cross back over... People amaze me

 

if you have guys like these in your community Photos of my dog getting fitter i understand every people who ask a dog owner to leave.
