I just wanted to share this. It actually started out as a rant and then just kinda evolved. (I wrote the first piece and two others on the page titled "Tyrant!" and "Everyday Heroism.") Hopefully everybody likes it, or can at least understand what I'm trying to say. (And if you think its crap, I'm the one to yell at. :D)

  2. Very well said indeed bahamutt!!! Some people just dont get it! They Never will either. All we can do is try to educate them, and sometimes then it does no good!! Keep on bull doggin!

That was good. I stated before that because of this site I learned the difference between the real deal and the street trash, and after learning that not all "game" oriented owners are what I had thought they were, my knowlege of the breed grew. I would be considered a petbull owner, but after listening and learning, I realized that my dogs would be happier if they at least got a lot of exercise.

I don't own the blog but the work is mine. So if you can squeeze in a link to the blog in the letter, that'd be great. Other than that, if it helps the breed, I'm all for it.

Good post, I've said it before and I'll say it again my ONLY problem with "petbullers" is the ones who cannot follow responsible ownership, and respect first and foremost their dog is a bulldog, and not a labrador. Just because you want your bulldog to grow up in the house with other "friends", sometimes its just not meant to be. My problem is with folks who are telling people "oh, its all in how you raise them...anybody can get multiple pitbulls living in the house, they are great pets!". Yes, they are great pets, and yes sometimes multiple dog-houses work. But we need to be honest with what breed you own, and realize its sometimes not their intentions to live peacefully with Fido and Roofus. Additionally, I do not agree with the same folks (usually the same as above) who let their dogs run loose because "ohhh they just love everybody and everybody should get a chance to see them!". You can see where my problem is with stray dogs of any breed, let alone one so steadly stuck in the crossfire as our own. I do not like "petbullers" who have working bred dogs who sleep on the couch all day without adequate excersise. Finally, I do not agree with breeding away from standard, and especially not breeding "because they make such great pets!". The animals in shelters make just as good pets.

It would seem, my problem is not with "petbullers" as you mentioned, but rather, what I perceive to be irresponsible owners. I can whole-heartedly agree with you on that fact. Irresponsible backyard breeding, inadequate attention to your animals physical needs, and letting your dog roam are all examples of irresponsible owners in my eyes. My problem with those types of people is as heavy with gamedog owners, and petbull owners.

I dont care what type of dog you own, or what you classify yourself as long as you are being responsible and mature, and putting our breed in a positive spot-light. In frustration, many times we say things we dont mean, or we broadly classify entire groups of people based on the actions of a few (in this case irresponsible "petbullers")....at the end of the day however, I respect anyone who is standing by me and others in the fight for our breed.

Rock I am with you on dogs just running loose. It is a nusance on my farm. A danger to the dog for sure. If it doesn't get run over it may get shot for killing someones chickens or live stock. And the accedental bite or confrontation with an aggressive dog. It is just poor practice to let dogs run freely no matter what breed it is. Only time my dogs are out running is on a hunt. Or herding my sheep. I maintain control at all times. In public I keep them on a leash at all times. No body likes someone elses dog shitting in their yard either. It is just plain rude. I had to warn a dude at the corner of my road to keep his schnouzer and jack russle terreir in his own yard and out of my chickens. I told him he has one last shot at keeping his dogs. One more dead chicken and I am going to deliver them to the dog pound or shot dead. Then I would come for him. I told him I didn't blame the dogs because they are bred to do that. But I was going to deal with him after I deal with them. So that jerk beat his dogs for it. And I went down to his house. I am about 1/4 mile from him but I could hear him beat the dogs. So I stopped over on my way to the feed store and knocked on the door and when he answered I slapped him and told him it was his fault not the dogs. I don't like him and every day I like him less. If his wife was not home I would have beat the dog crap out of him.

You guys are the best. I'm glad so far everybody seems to understand my itent. The division between us is crazy, and I sure don't want to make it any worse. So many times you'll only hear one side of the story, and if that's the case, it means you're missing the rest.

Wow. Very good post. Glad that you shared that with us.Thanks Bahamutt99. Also, What Rock wrote was RIGHTON. In fairness, I've never heard of a gamedog owner letting their dogs run loose, or taking them to the dogpark because "they need friends". Clueless, casual dogowners who get ahold of Pitbulls and are not willing to learn are a curse to the breed.
