Do pitbulls shed much?

A long time ago my parents had a pit mix that had a severe shedding problem and she left hair everywhere. I am curious if this is the norm or if that dog was an anomaly.

How much do pitbulls shed compared to some of the other breeds of dogs ?

I can't find hair in the house from my two that live indoors. I only find little hairs in their crates and in my car on the seats. It's not much though.

 

your parents dog could have had a skin issue, or maybe was a mix?

my gsd and rott shed as they walk... my pitx sheds, but he doesnt shed as bad as the other dogs.... thank goodness.. if you brush /comb your dog on a regular basis it cuts down onthe shedding too

 

Mine don't shed much and neither do the others I've been around. So I'd say as compared to many other dogs they definaytely do not shed as much

It may have been whatever the dog was mixed with

Also like some of this was already said... grooming ( curry brushes and zoom grooms work great on pits), and a good diet rich in omega fatty acids really helps cut down on the shedding and also the weather and where the dog is kept as well as if he has allergies or other issues will effect it as well

 

Jaha sheds a good amount. But, Ollie, my mothers dog, doesn't hardly shed at all. Neither shed as bad as Dave's lab mix Brock.

 

Ozzy sheds a lot, but Mercedes and Bentley hardly shed at all. Its my dam cat that leaves all the hair in my house, I outta shave his fat a$$..lol

Mine barely shed at all since I switched their dog food.

I rarely have dog hair in the house, but I think that is because my four year old daughter loves to brush them on the deck. She uses a wooden handled soft boars bristle brush on them and they love it. I got the brush for under $5 in the people's hair section at Walmart.

 

My girl probably sheds more than I realize, but her hair is a great color so I don't notice it. (When I lived with a white Dogo -- and I tend to wear dark clothes -- I walked around looking like a snow globe.) Loki will go through occasional periods of heavier shedding, but a bath and some brushing usually takes care of that.

 

My Diegoh seems to have a very tight coat and he sheds, on a scale of 1-10, about a 3... Steele has alot of loose hair and is maybe a 7 on that scale... u pet him and are left with little black hairs on ur hand

 

Mine sheds a lot, But I have been looking for a brush so I think I am going try the curry brushes or zoom grooms. I have heard brushing them helps a lot. My dog goes through spurts, sometimes he does not shed at all and other times it is everywhere. So I am going to try to brushes and see how it works.

 

my dog doesnt have a shedding problem but they say i do ,,everytime i get drunk i shed my clothes and run down the street
