First of all the notion that N.Y. is a harder place to stand out lyrically is a little bit overstated nowadays. The internet bridges that gap IMO. I guess you could say Hip Hop started there although if you listen to Africa Bambatta he'll name a whole bunch of cats who were flowin including James Brown, Pig Meat Market with Here comes the Judge and all that. Plus everyone out here knows bout that freestyle fellowship with Aceyalone and em, Blackalicious with the super spitter Gift of Gab tearing crews up on the freestyle tip, Fat Lip, Slimkid, Imani, Bootie Brown, The Pharcyde, The Coup, Del the Funkee Homosapian, Murs and the Living Legends crew 9th wonder ICE CUBE And the South got Eightball, Scarface, Cunninlynguists, Devin the Dude, BUN B, CEE Lo, OUTKAST, SOUTHERN EMCEE, Killer Mike so many

Those are all standouts of their own region though... that's really not what i was saying. I'm talking about the general public, not just famous people. There are more people that rap in new york, which results in higher competition, and a greater number of talented people. Honestly, in my personal opinion if most of the people you named on there was from NY they would've just been the average in skill. What made most of them attractive is their perspective and the place they come from, not being as introduced to the rest of the country like new york has been. But in raw lyrical ability... only a few of em are slightly impressive. That's just my opinion though.

I don't think any of the emcees I listed from West n South would be pedestrian in any way compared to them east coast emcees. But either way I guess we could agree to disagree.

I love cali and the west coast it's my home forever as far as rap I stick with the old school guys period. There are a few that I listen to that are not OG I suppose but for the most part my rap is the old school stuff and I believe we have the best OG rappers in my opinion.

Popper those stupid bully videos are so disgusting haha I remember coming across them just laughing and laughing of "rappers" thinking they are hard with bullies..gross.
