Try flirt pole, draging chains, fetch with more than one ball. I get good results from walking as far as muscle mass and i would think w-p its self would be the way to go as far as building strenght ,technique and confidence dont know alot about it but hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. cause i have none when it cames to weight pull

Finding a nice hill for the dog to run up after a ball work's really well,I live by the beach and I use the sand dune's on the beach for the dog's to run up,you get endurance and strength by using this method.I w-p my dog's in the adba and this has helped me out I also weight pull my dog's on my track for strength training also with some mill work thrown in there

tug and flirt are sometimes in the program too not running up the hill, will ad that too
    thanks for the tips

ps: about chain dragging, the dog is 19 kg (41.8lbs), what chain weight and distance is adviced to be in good shape to compete in w-pull?

    thanks in advanced

If iam dragging dead weight the most I drag would be the weight of the dog but thats only for short pulls like 20 ft stop start withshort breaks in between after about a 100 ft dis connect the dog and let him walk around then repeat until you notice the dog breaking down then I would throw half the dog's weight behind him let him pull that for about 50 ft then walk him for a good while then a rub down that's what I do hope this helps

yes, shure do helps because it confirms what i feel about it, i started yesterday doing it, the dog is 19 kg (41.8lbs) and is pulling 20kg (44 pounds) for about 45 feet and doing repetitions with pauses between each pull, i try my best to end pulls successfully.

by beaking down you mean when the dog is out of gas (tierd)?

i read somewhere where folks would put dog's weight chains and do long walks, and made pulling chs, this way is usefull or useless?

i never did w-p competition, i guess that during competition the dog will pull x times and each time more weight, and would want to work power and resistance to be up to the challenge.

I have a 2 mile loop that I will walk with my dog's with a 15 lb chain dragging behind them that's another great way to build muscle also make sure you have a good harness for your dog I think missy villines from brown dog design harnesses are the best and you should use a collor when you pull aslo
