I cant tell what your using for insulation but I have built similar houses and 1 1/2" foam insulation fits between the double walls, floor, roof

It's 3 1/2 in insulation. Same kind used in house walls. Got some under the floor too. Got some thin type left over from when we put a new roof on the barn I use for the lid. Not sure what it's called, but it's white on one side and shiner on the other. Gets cold in Ohio.

but when compressed that 3 1/2" fiberglass insulation shoved into a 1 1/2" space loses its R value and holds moisture and will mildew just something to think about

I'll take your word for it. I used all galvanized screws so it ain't no thing to pop em out and replace it. Thanks for the tip, you got any pics of the foam you're using?

Found this, is it what you're talking about? Couldn't find inch and half though. Not on lowes page. We don't have a home depot so it will have to do. Probably still better.

I used polystyrene foam it comes in 4'X8' sheets and ranges from 5 to 15 a sheet depending on what R value you need you can get it at any lumber/building supply

Use good wood for the outside layer ( I used 3/4" dry-lok plywood and 1 1/2" insulation board inbetween the 2x4's supports and they'll be warm. Use straw not hay for the bedding. I even added a top to the kennel (not shown in this picture) just to keep the 120 inches of snow we get a year out somewhat.

The fucking dog houses are better insulated than my house is.....lol

Looks good yardboy. I love this design of this style dog house, its easy to make and not too bad on the wallet and when built right will last a long time.;)

and you will find it easier to put it in when building the wall, floor, roof then trying to force it in latter

AGK is the dry-lok better than treated 3/4" ply wood? I ain't no carpenter, but I try hard. Lol. :)

I honestly couldn't tell you, When it rains on it though It does what rainX does to your car windshield, it beads up and runs down, stays looking good and I dont have to keep re-treating it. I just didnt want to have to stain it when I can by the wood already treated for a couple extra bucks.

Be carful with treated wood if you have a chewer it is treated with arsenic
    I dont know about dry-loc

Yeah, I honestly went straight from the blueprints I posted and they said treated. Haven't noticed any chewing by Daisy. Will have to research the drylok for Lyla though, she's hell on pretty much everything. The others are in kennels under an over hang from the barn though so no worries there, just regular plywood.

Nice yardboy! I hate to se a dog in a barrol or shitty dog house as cold as it gets around here in the winter. I built a simular one last spring.

That's a good lookin box there Red. I ain't about to let the dogs go cold or hungry man. Some of the pics people put up makes me scratch my head. It's like they really don't give a shit if their dog is cold, wet, etc...........and the saddest part is they really don't.
