Sooo that's why its called the American Pit Bull Terrier... while early ancestors came from the UK, the breed was perfected here in the states don't kid yourself... ;) you can take all the credit you want for the staffs. Lol

not trying to agree with the stupid idea of breeding for coat colors, but the pit dog/bulldog was already perfected in England and Ireland before they came to America. Here, they were only maintained and bred for what they were created, a practice greater in the states than were the breed originated from

You cant build on perfection. Most of the pits in the uk these days look alot better than the apbt
That yoi see on youtube n shit. The dog was created here perfected here. And the be all and end all is a brittish breed. You just stuck american infront of it.

How about i put it like this no matter the breed if you bred for color you are going to have worthless hounds that are good for nothing more than eating feed and shitting it out

The dogs originated in England and Ireland true, wasn't really the right wording I should have used. Dogs were still being crossed around then from most everything I've ever read published on them ( bull & terrier ). English Staffordshires are not the same dog as an apbt like American bullies are not the same dogs as Apbts ( even though the all came from the same foundations. Most breeds originate elsewhere from the places that develop them into an actual recognized breed throwing consistent physical characteristics to be able to have a breed standard set in stone. To say they were or are perfect isn't, to my belief, true either or there would be no need to cull.

this is turning into an interesting post, in part, that's exactly what i thought when we talk about perfection. you are right, there arent perfect dogs, but as a whole the dog came from England and Ireland with no need to be fixed or crossed with other breeds, in other words the pitdog/bull and terrier came to America as a matching dog, the only thing we Americans needed to do was select, cross good dogs to good dogs and discard the ones not fit to its purpose, something that was acomplished very well in the states, the persuasion for the breed's purpose surpassed that of the British, because this land had less rules concerning what many tree huggers call "the well being of the animals". People automatically assume apbt and staffords are way different, and that's a mistake, they come from the same pit dogs of the past. unfortunately, like the American bullies and such, the staffords have been crossed with other inferior breeds to make them more suitable to any buyer with cash and hand who delights him/herself talking about the gladiator past of his/her little pooch but nonetheless are against of the dogs capabilities, and also take pride and satisfaction from the show ring, something any dog or breed can give two shits abou, get me? is like buying a herding dog that i wouldn want it herding cause i dont like it.

i know this been mentioned before, but there are 3 strains of staffords, in particular there is one you, i or many wouldnt be able to tell the difference between apbt or stafford. do i admit this breed is in worse shape than their cousins apbt's? absolutely!
do i admit the apbt is greater in numbers for what they were bred to do? you betcha!

these arent the staffords i'm talking about, these are in no way sbt, they are english bulldog crosses, compare pics of staffords of the past not the clowns you see todays in gazettes, dog magazines and in shows.

The pitbull terrier is essentially a brittish dog. Fair dos there arw more of them in usa. But it came from here. Staffords are a game dog fact the only reason they cant compare to a pbt is size. They still do the job in the box or in the field. around a dig or where ever you wish to put them.

Yes there are alot of shitters and good dogs are hard to come by. But they are there.

I was wrong to make out i was breeding for colour but im glad that this thread has gone the way it has.

Its nice to hear other peoples opinions on the breeds involved.

    So cheers lads and thankyou.
