can you folks tell me what lines i should look at for a working stafford,based in uk thanks

The Onedin line was making waves when stockade,sparpit etc were just twinkles in their daddy's eye!

Payne line

 

If your genuine about wanting a Pure Stafford that has a genuine pedigree then ignore the last post and stay well clear of anything that has the name Payne or Stockades behind it , i know myself how easy it is to get ripped of when your knew to gamedogs and it dont feel to nice , so aint no way im gonna sit back and let anyone give such dumb advice to newcomers thats why the dog game is so screwed up today . If you want a good looking pet and dont mind if the dogs pedigree is fake or if the dog is purebred then you could be allright as these dogs are impressive lookers and make good PETS .

 

Hey JT. What you implying that those lines were nothing but curs? The false purebred bit you mentioned,do you reckon there was some pit in there?

you want a staff that will last 30 mins before going into shock against a good pit. ATB trying to find one.

 

Many years ago i was visiting some well known dogmen in the Portsmouth area they had staffords and were involved with Payne they had used Irish Jack on bitches and put KC papers on the puppies , one time we were visiting and they had a litter of puppies out of a Red strain Stafford bitch that was not registared but they had a pedigree for her , a person had come to the owner of the bitch to buy a puppy but wanted KC papers , the owner of the dam came , and the guy we were visiting told him how do they want the pup bred and told him to say his dog was the sire . Another time they crossed Danns Rocky who was a pure Stafford but NOT KC registared now today decendants of these dogs ARE KC registared , Rocky was bred to the Maggie bitch they both quit , they produced Mad Molly and she quit also . These same people used Irish Jack on bitches from the Red and Flynn strains and put false pedigrees on them some with KC registrations , they also bred the Stafford bitch to the crossbred Pitbull dog then took a pup back to its sire to get the Cooper dog , some of these ended up with KC registrations and BH told me one time how a lady was stood with a pup at a stafford show with a male pup in the puppy class with a dog that was twenty two inches and over sixty pounds , the poor woman hadnt a clue what she had . The bitch Bridget the dam of Maggie was according to BH a rough bitch but never game tested , the dog Bludgeons Blockbuster quit several times but was still used extensively at stud or at least his pedigree was used . I had the Maggie bitch on my yard for GG when she was supposed to be in pup to Joe but one of GG coursing dogs had sneaked in and bred her we looked at her she was very rough but a rank cur , she was sold as a pet and lived to old age . Dozens of litters were bred and given false pedigrees some had Pitbull others had English Bull through Irish Jack and many had false KC registration with both Pitbull and English Bull behind them , howevor like ive said before if you want a good looking dog as a pet you cant go wrong as most are bbig impressive dogs and make lovely pets they are not howevor bred the w .ay as shown

The pedigree looks correct though the bitch Matador Maid was owned by Peter Kane and should read Kanes Matador Maid though perhaps RB would know better
