agree wholeheartedly...i use time as a measuring stick...the dog dictates the time but the time measures improvements...the dog is happy and healthy and all out nuts thru the work load....say that work load is ten minutes (just a number)...he is tired...i stop and walk him out...he recovers in five minutes....he is ready to start again and he is all out again...at 8 minutes he is tired again (again just a number)...over that week the initial time should go up...the recovery time should go down and the next set should go up....the minutes/time measurement will indicate progress...but the dog always sets the work load....when he is tired and done we are done...as ten minutes or two minutes...he dictates the times...but i like the way you put it....i was answering the post as i use time vs. distance in my measurements...US1

When it comes to normal walking i just walk and don't watch the time that much only my dogs but sometimes it is nice too know what you do.
Most of the times i walk too 1 of the next town's that are up the road, looked at google maps for the distance yesterday and found out that i walk an average of 9,4 km with them in about 90 minutes.
I always use time as an indication, now i know if i want too walk for 2hrs i need too map out another walking route for at least 13/14 km but if the dog can go longer so wil i.
It's sometimes funny after i come home i'm busted and the dogs just sit there looking at me and you can see that they have something like 'is that it' when i see them looking like that i know i can increase the distance/time some more for the normal walks.
