earlier the better - their minds learn well when they are young and they thrive off it.

Try clicker training and you will see even faster improvement.

Hmmm the clicker confuses me I'm sure its easy but I may need it to be explained for example when do I click, do I ready as well?

click after the behavior you want is done, and reward with a treat to start off with. Also 8 weeks is when i start training.

First of all, decide what you mean by basic training.
Decide what the commands you wish the dog to understand are.
Get a clear picture in your head of what you want,....not just what you don't want the dog to do. A lot of times peole tell a dog to "sit" when they really mean, stop bothering my ass right now,...get the picture in your head, your body language will follow, and the dog will follow that more precisely than any command.

In any case, you can start training from day two.

But that all depends on the type of training you do and what you wish to accomplish.

A lot of people say wait until X age because they methods they use would actually end up harming younger dogs.

Clicker is great,...if you know what you're doing. It isn't rocket science, but if you don't understand proper timing and how to schedule rewards properly, you end up confusing you dog and frustrating yourself. So, if you're going to do it, get a good video on the series, better yet, spend two hours with a trainer that does it, and that will change the whole training thing for you.

Personally, the first thing I would do with a 9 week old dog is put a collar and leash on it, tie the leash to my belt, and go about life as usual. The first thing a dog needs to learn is to pay attention to you without having to be called, coaxed or told to. I'm not saying you should be unreasonable and drag a sleeping pup up and down stairs, for example. But, I will guarantee that if you keep your pup attached to an adult in the house for one week, the pup will understand you better, and you'll know the dog better too....and the house-training thing becomes a whole lot easier.

Ok I got the clicker tried to start using it but she was too busy playing so I couldnt get her to pay attention to me lol. She had her first encounter with a big doggie today and it went so well I was so proud of her. I will continue with training soon and keep you updated that all so much for the advice oh and @high coast luckily she was already leash trained by her breeder she is perfect on the leash sometimes trys to eat it but I hope she grows out of that

The reason she is not paying attention is because you have to "charge the mark". That means get a lot of small treats and just click and feed..click and feed. Do this several times a day for the first day and then try training. This way she knows the click means a reward is coming. Right now it means nothing to her.

Omg how do I stop her from biting once she gets it in her mouth she is attched for the long haul I know she is a puppy but she bite me today and wouldn't let go it wasnt bad but enough blood to know that no biting is the first thing I need to teach her I just don't know how

puppies learn bite sensitivity through physical interaction with their mother and siblings. when a pup bites too hard he is admonished. sometimes with a growl or a nip by mom or it might incite a serious little skirmish between pups. if you want to roughhouse with your pup then just admonish when he is too rough. if you want absolutely no biting nipping or mouthing whatsoever than you need to be more strict and admonish said behavior at every instance. you can use whatever means you deem comfortable. i prefer a sharp tap on the head for plain stubborn behavior and a verbal admonishment for miscellaneous mischief. make sure punishments are dealt swiftly and consistently. make sure you overexaggerate praise as well for speedier results in the beginning stages of your pup's training...bjh

Never too young. As soon as their eyes are open and they are walking around you can start training. As pups remember to be positive and they will think training is good & fun.

  17. When your puppy walk properly and running little bit then you think about taring of your puppy.
