I have a question. Is it better to do your workouts a hour before feed time or after? Does it make a difference at all in how the body metabolizes the food?

If yourdogis doing strenous exercise, you should give a meal/ post workoutmeal about a hour after... Also low fatwould bemy choice as the body soaks up thenutrients faster.

you feed them no more than a half hour after exercise. this is the window where the body is catabolic and will absorb the most nutrients. this is also not my opinion there has been research done on this subject especially for human athletes as well as canines

I feed her once she is no longer heavily panting from her work outs and has calmed completely down back to normal. I would never feed before a work out and I have read on many notes that the dog will benefit more after work outs then to be fed before a work out. I only feed once a day also.

Thanks all for the replies. I have been doing handwalking (2mi) in the evenings due to the heat I don't leave until about 7 pm. I was feeding before but will change to after now. I usually fed around 6 pm. Wish I had time to exercise in the am but have to be at work at 7 am and already get up @ 4-4:30am for feed and potty time.
I always waited until they cooled down before feed and am very aware of the possibility of bloat. We are flirt poling every other day. Am thinking of swapping to a low hung springpole because they are hard to break off the flirt pole and they will probably get a better workout that way.

Optimal time for post workout nutrition is liquid (shake) within 15 mins and solid food within an hour.

have you tried biking the dog? In the same time frame you could give the dog 5x workout and work at a pace that suits you both. Well good luck and I'm sure you'll find the info you need here.
