What about Penn State.

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by Lakewood Dogger, Jul 23, 2012.

  1. The statue down. The Paterno name on the Library should follow soon. 60 million in fines. Erase all wins since 98. Loss of scholarships. No Bowls for 4 years. Seems about right.

Too bad paterno didn't make it to see it come to this

  3. I think he knew what was coming. I also think you may see the University never recover from this. I don't envision this ever fading away.

I am not a P State fan at all.But what rules did they violate? I know Sandusky raped all those kids and yes that is a tragedy but is this a NCAA violation? It is a state violation no doubt about that. But thats my only question is what rules were violated?

ghees i dont know decades and decades of covering up child abuse and rape? NFL can suspend someone for an OUI or domestic dispute. You're talking about "revered" people of a great university knowingly and willingly covering up hundreds of the most heinous crimes possible.

NFL and College NCAA rules are totally different .I am glad they got in trouble because I think they deserved it.But what I am saying is college football is governed by the NCAA but if no rules were violated then they had no right to penalize them.So you think thier is like a rule number 1036 that says and no coaches shall rape kids..Prob not ,and thats why I am asking what rule was actually violated? State laws and even Federal laws were broken here thier the ones to hadle this.

I was good with the punishment except for erasing all those wins. Those kids played their hearts out and earned those wins, its a crime that the NCAA lets some pervert steal that away from them. The players had nothing todo with it and its clearly an act to drop Paterno from the record of all time winning coach

its a political statement thats all. its a way to start fresh. the crime that happened there is the worst ever especially because the man and the campus was in the lime light. who cares colleges are big businesses and even without being able to play for the next 4 years they will still make money off kids entering into there school system.. the school is just lucky that they didnt get fined more. im happy for what they got the especially the chester. fucking school must have heard something, but they didnt react. like i said

I agree with what Brent Mussberger(sp) had to say this morning, he for once got it right. Nothing thus far has been done for the victims, sure the school has been punished, really the football team and why? Seems the crimes of One, and the cover up by another few men-and the PSU football entity takes the hit? Every player on those teams that had to vacate wins is tarnished, are they culpable as well? And another thing, that 60 mill, PSU is a State run school so in the end that is tax money, so "we" are paying 60 million, not to the victims but to abuse clinics and programs that they will put a board together to pick, hmmm just like everything else these days sounds like BS, looks like BS, smells like BS, guess what?.

You are 100% right. They are trying to punish Paterno's legacy and the school with taking away all those wins. But all it is really hurting is the other kids that played them. I agree with all the other sanctions and penalties, it was a sick PSU cover up at the highest level. Hell look what the NCAA did to USC! For the most part, one player (Reggie Bush) took financial incentives from his potential future agent! The NCAA called it, "lack of institutional control" and slapped the shit out of USC, 30 scholarships, national title stripped, 2 year bowl ban, vacation of wins, and more. The NCAA needs to be tough, but I believe they need to focus more on punishing the guilty parties more severely ex (University, coaches, ect.) and try not to hurt the innocent kids that played all those years.

  14. The only reason they erased the wins is to get Joe Paterno's name off the register. Bobby Bowden deserves it. Joe Pa does not.

Alot of ppl seem confused... SANDUSKY has been sentenced inthe court of law... Paterno did what any employee is supposed to do...go to his boss... He (paterno) didnt catch him some one else did... N that person tld joe p. N he in turn told his boss... Nobody is riding the guy who actually caught sandusky! And to take away 22 scholarships is a crime within its self bcuz its a trickle dwn effect those 22 kids will tke 22 other scholarships which in turn my put 22 kids out of an opportunity.... A moral n ethical violation yes ncaa no

  16. Joe Pa was Penn State. He hired his boss. He proclaimed the image. And, he covered up Mr Linebacker U to win National Titles. Guess what. Penn State deserves everything and probably more.

i hate the fact that the kids playing ball are getting punished. im sure some of em grew up as Penn state fans, and are now getting to walk out on the field to play for their favorite college team only to find that they will never get to play in a bowl game. punish the school, not the kids playing ball for Penn state

Right the PEOPLE IN CHARGE... Not the students... Take his statue down..vacate HIS wins...not the kids...dont take scholarships... Im not arguing the point of them or him... Jus the kids... It WASNT a ncaa violation...only a criminal one no player past or present had anything to do with it

the " kids" are the school sports team or not. jp was psu & had the power to do the right thing. the whole point of college is higher learning. the fellas on the team had a free degree after 4 years or went pro. i doubt anyone of them spend much time re living the games 10 years latter? hell hurschel walker don't remember winning the hiseman lol. this mess shows just how backwards we are become folks forget what college is for to begin with.
