Weird aggression!! need help

Discussion in 'Training & Behavior' started by Pitbullmia, Mar 4, 2013.

  1. Hi, I have 2 dogs, one is a 5 year old beagle terrier mix(male) and the other is a 1 year old APBT(female). Both fixed. But lately the weirdest thing has been happening. Once i feed the dogs, after they finish eating, the female will go over to my male beagle and she will sniff his face, couple seconds later she will begin to get aggressive. I have never had this happen before the dogs are fine at all other times, they play, sleep together, i am always supervising them but this is just the weirdest thing im guessing its food aggession? But what type? there is no food, they are finished eating then she sniffs, and gets aggressive and they forget about it as soon as i split them up.
Any input will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Feed them in seperate crates or different parts of the house. Do Not feed them together anymore. I have a female that will fight in a hot second over food even if another dog is licking up something off the floor if she goes over to that dog she will try and fight the dog if food is anywhere in the vacinity. Any other time she is fine with the dogs she is just food aggressive with other dogs which I don't mind as long as it's not directed towards people. Just save yourself the headache and feed them seperately it's safer and no one will get hurt.

Wanted to add your girl probably smells the food on the other dog since they just got done eating hence the sniffing of the other dogs face following the aggressive type behavior.

  4. Thank you so much . I will follow through with the separate feeding

I bought a female pup a few weeks back and she is still acting scared and skiddish when she's outside or if people walk toward her. I almost gave her away but she gets fiesty around other dogs. She's 14 weeks now is there anyway to fix this fear of people and nervousness when outside?

try carrying her and bring her where people are so she see's she is safe as much as possible she will feel safe in your arms then set her down as she becomes used to people .Any idea as to what the actual reason for the fear was ? some dogs are just skid dish
