    Colby and Lightner both used to go down to the ports to buy dogs off immigrants coming from England and Ireland.

    It would be very good if a historian could piece together everything and give us all the full information out there. I wonder how many strains were in England and Ireland at the time, I'm sure Wales and Scotland also had it's fair share of Pit Dogs as well.

    I think there would be market interest for such information. I have one of Semencic’s books; it’s not researched to this level. Not being critical, but I think his focus is more so on the various “fighting” (quotes) breeds…with an emphasis on the bandog.
