thanks hes one of a kind. the most docile pit youll ever meet. his weight goes +/-2lbs since 3yrs kept the 85/90lbs for the last 6yrs. he is also lean, all muscle its funny cause he could put on 5 more lbs and still wouldnt look over weight.:)

I took my dog to the vet last week and she weighed in at 52lbs. So the vet comes into the room and tells me "my dog looks underweight." I look at this motherlover like she's crazy. My dog is in beautiful shape with not an ounce of fat on her body. She asks me "If I feed just once a day?" I tell her "I free feed", my dog eats at her will.
She goes on to tell me that she has two Pitbull's herself. So I'm wondering how big are her bully's (because if my dog is underweight, she has to have ambullys)

Don't get me wrong, I don't knock another man for loving what he feeds, but what problem I do have is them 120lbs hippos aren't the the Epitome of the APBT breed, These Big Blue hippo's breeders are breeding for all the wrong reasons, $$$, big head, blue coat, big toe nails LOL whatever the fuck they breed for, Hippo dogs and gamebred are two different things, I don't care what anyone says.

Now if your New to this breed, I understand and won't laugh at you to hard, we were all Green once at the beginning of the race.

Just do us all a BIG favor...Please Do Not

1- Juice any of your dogs
2- Do Not breed your blue dog to your red dog because you like the colours.
3- Do Not breed your 90lbs to another 90lbs dog because your hoping to get 120lbs Big boys.
4- I don't care if you have 20 years experienced in training dogs, PLEASE have them on a leash when walking them, Chained up with a nice fence around them.

Until quite recently, the ADBA standard for the APBT had a weight range for the breed. Anywhere from a low of 25 lbs for females to a high of 60 lbs for a male if I remember correctly.

Yes, there are APBT's that can be larger hence the term catch weight.

pitbull4.6, I'm not sure what part of Canada your from? I have met many different people into these dogs, many of them from APBT clubs, and have yet to meet 1 that thinks a purebred APBT should weigh that much (120lbs?) even at catch weight.

The absolutely largest I've seen is 60 lb chain weight/54 conditioned though my hubby remembers a Kingfish dog that was 60 conditioned. These are exceptions to the average.

Females usually run in the 30's, males high 30's to high 40's low 50's on average. Can they come heavier? Yes, but it is not the norm.

Does anyone know why the ADBA removed the weight range from the standard?

the ADBA standard is BS thats why they dumped it(weight range). A true pit is not measured by its weight, what your saying is like all white people should be certain weight. For competition yes I agree that a 40/50lbs pit is perfect but does not mean all pits need to be measured by those standards imo. And it doesnt mean that every pit thats 80/100lbs has mastiff in it. maybe its in our water but the majority of pits here in canada are much larger then in the u.s for some reason.

Because they're mutts. For someone who claims they've been in this breed for 20+ years, and you've never seen a fully-grown 40 lb male??? 120+ lb juiced??? WTF are you talking about? Any credibility has officially gone out the window -- granted, it was out the window a while ago. Do you have decent pics of your 90 lb male?

gator was a big dog but they called him an albatrous, and had a hard time hooking him up.Their were a few more bigger dogs but not many.Smaller the better in my eyes, easier to handle.

40/50 lbs dog compare to 80/100lbs dog would be like...

160lbs/200lbs Human compare to 320lbs/400lbs Human

yes there are BIG people in this world, it's just not Healthy for a person or dog to weight that much.
