Troubles of keeping a Pit dog (1857)

Poem from 1859 - There were a lot of variation on the bottom dog in a fight around sometimes referring to politics as well as non dog aspects.

 

I know that sketch was meant to be comedic and sarcastic but it took the dog 3 minutes to kill a cat? Unless that was no ordinary cat it should of only lasted 10 seconds or less. LOL

 

Did you see the size of the cat lol. Looked like a 30lb wild cat.
