i am sure this would have been asked many times over but just wondering what sought of program any oldtimers had for training their dogs to be match fit back when it was legal of course..
Just wanting to steal ideas i might be able to use for pig dogs..
I just run my dogs nothing fancy just drive around the big open salt pan and let em chase the car i do about 1km at 10km/h then speed upto 20km/h for 1km then i do 40km/h for last 2 or 3 km i do this daily and my dogs seem to do it pretty easythey don't all finish the same time some are a bit slack with training and if i were to slow down and push them the others that want to train will not get full run so best to work on the keen dogs let the rest follow suit...
I'd love ten tread mills but unlikely hahaha...

Mate what your looking for is info on conditioning a dog for matching which is called "a keep"
There should be plenty of info on here if you search around on conditioning tips ect, as there are a few fellas on here who are very good it. Use the search tool to find some threads and keep checking here im sure youl get some decent answers.
