a lot of folks now a days don't give a shit what there dogs are. as long as the papers are pretty dogs will get bred. some think if there's a proven dog in the 4th generation there good to go. but to me there just breeding "german shepherds".

I am on your side here but what the hell is a pretty pedigree? Sometimes people get on here, ask opinions on a breeding or pedigree and people will say it looks sweet. I look at it and think either I don't know the dogs in this ped well enough to know better but I don't see any titles or winners in the entire ped or maybe there will be a couple way in the back. I'm thinking way in the back someone knew what they were doing and over time the wrong people got the pups and bred them and now you don't have anything there.

When I look at a ped, I do a point system. I give 1 point for every win and 3 points for a producing title. I total that up and see what I got. I do this first for 4 generations. After that i do a count again for 3 generations. I do this cause if the dog gets bred the 3rd generation now becomes the 4th.

Just given everyone an idea on what I look at in a ped. There is always exceptions to the rules but this is how I do it.

I'm new and don't know shit but over here that is all you see and I think if you're doing that why even breed pit bulls because in the end you're not.

intrigued by your point system. :) So, is there a range which you desire which may make one breeding more favorable over another? I guess in other words, is there a particular score you look for?

I don't understand how a person can have so many grown dogs and all are GREAT!! I just don't get it:confused:

  11. In no way do i practice breeding, but i do see myself breeding my red boy/jeep bitch once hopefully at 5-7 yrs of age to keep my family line going. If its meant to be.

Anyone who trashes me cause shes not titled or tested can kiss my you know what.

A ped is just a tool to be used in conjunction with other methods. If you don't know how to use ALL the tools in front of you, your project most likely be incomplete.

Your a fool if you look at a ped and say "oh this person didn't know what they were doing cause you don't see Kujo 4xw". A person who looks to do such things are fools too. Don't believe everything you read or don't read.

true words rite there. im a strong believer in seeing the dogs up front go before you analize the breeding. not everyone post there titles or wins and some post fabricated stuff so be aware of what your getting. build relationships and get out there you will be able to say 10 years from now that you saw all the dogs in your 4 gens in action. There will be no question on how your hounds are bred and what the dogs in the said ped has done performance wise.

yes sir there is a word for that crapshoot. how can you even know what your breeding for if you never got the two your breeding in trouble or tried? the answer to that is the studs father is a 2x or his uncle is ch blah blah. your dogs need to stand on there on 4. like someone said best to best is the way to do it. the best breeders based there yard off there best winning dog. the game needs to keep its standards an integrity or our dogs will lose what makes them special. the oldtimers who have past and dedicated there lives to keeping integrity in their stock probably turn over in there graves with the way some of there stock lost its ability to get it done an its mainly do to the hands the dogs where placed into. you cant live off of your dogs father your dog could be better or a piece of crap if so these things need to be looked for not over looked. once you have got that part down an find that dog that does everything you put in front him then an only then should you begin building a yard around this dog.

WGK when i say "pretty ped" im refereeing to breeding made solely on a ped alone. for example tight redboy & no dog with rank in the first 3 or maybe 1 or 2 tested in the first few generation. now a days alot folks just want tight dogs & it don't matter what's behind the dog as long as it's tight. example a pup is 40% eli but if the dogs behind it were german shepherds. what do you think the dogs ahead of it will be.

the year is 2009, it ~should~ be common sense but only deal w/ people you trust. those who just put their info out there for all the world wide interwebs to see are either a.) careless b.) lying or c.) the next ones you are going to see busted

too many people breeding now anyhow
