I was talking about my friends dog on this thread a while back and finally got a picture of him and thought I would post it. He is a American bulldog x Catahoula leopard dog. Great cross for the hunting outdoorsmen. He is a great all around dog. He will put in work!

That's Jack Dempsey's dog King. I am a huge Jack Dempsey fan my favorite fighter of all time. If my memory is right king was a gift to Dempsey for a fan from Oklahoma. Since Tudor was from Oklahoma and a boxer in his younger years could it be possible it was a gift from Tudor???

  8. Nice looking mutt mate...I remember talking about this with you a while ago..them Catolas are proper great hounds mate.dose this dog bay before he grabs hold?..
A Bull cross in hounds has been used for millennium's by mankind....a lot of the hounds in your country(not fox hounds) show a strong bull look to them...them cur dogs do,and they great hounds to...I read some were that them cur hounds were dogs what quit in the pit so we're used for hunting instead?not sure how true that is?..but just thought ide meniton it....
Keep up the good work.keep up the good hunting!

  9. I read somewhere King was a Colby dog..I'm sure I read he was bought directly of JP...

Are you sure you are not thinking of Jack Johnson the first black heavy weight champ? I know he purchased a Colby dog off Colby himself. Johnson was champ from 1908-1915 Dempsey was champ from 1919-1926.

He bays for the first bit but he don't think twice about gripping. He can move like the wind he can run down a coyote with ease and not many dogs can. My friend keeps him in nice condition its hard to tell on him cause he has a longer thick coat and loose skin. He is 52lbs. My friends only complaint is he doesn't have the biggest teeth but they do the job just fine he has lots of mouth though. Just a pleasure of a dog to work with. He can do it all with very little training. He retrieves well also so we are going to take him out for ducks in two weeks.

  14. Sounds like a very nice dog...sounds like he's had a lot of work (training)put in to him..so thumbs up for that!..is the animal to be used for a out cross?..if so he could go back into hounds-or back to the Am Bull..and he sound lie a good dog to use!-you got him retreaving-that's great that..sounds like a real versatile dog.......were I am,we use Sheep dogs and Bull dogs to cross with Greyhounds, and the "Lurchers"from such breedings really take some beating...the Sheep dog gives the dogs brains and a tough constitution-totally un bothered by the worse weather. ..the Bull gives them more power and more jaw power and gameness.....both crosses are excellent in my opinion. ..but there's lads on here who no more;and I hope they join in.becuse I'm sure they will have some tails and some things to say about different crosses...the different crosses used for different types of hunting across the globe is a great subject..

The Earl Tudor Dog that was His favorite was Black Jack. Many sources say this, and I believe I just heard it in one of his interviews.

"Mutt"s pedigree is known , the only thing the "Mutt" dog has in common with a bull terrier is being white , but his whole pedigree known , and traces back to Colby , Armitage and Clark dogs , who just happen to look similar to "Mutt" , a man with a game bloodline would never breed to a bull terrier, they have no mouth , they have bad conformation for fighting and 100% not game ,,, Tudor never imported any dogs from Britain , and one thing Iv always wonder about , is "Dibo" a Henry bloodline , Heinzl who lived in Arizona along with Ed Ritcheson and Wiz Hubbard , bred a lot of the dogs behind Dibo and they ware at the time called the Arizona Aces , there is some Henry blood in "Dibo" but also some Colby , a lot of Feeley , Corvino , and other blood
