what does everyone think of the israeli palestinian conflict? and how much do people know regarding the circumstances of israel's creation?

in 1948 the U.S. and the U.N. gave land that belonged to the palestinians to the jews to form what is present day israel. lands that God himself had kicked the jews out of. and the biggest purchaser of american military arms is israel. arms they use to persecute the palestinians. i don't think that suicide bombs and the like are acceptable forms of resistence. but i do feel there should be something done on a political level. and failing any serious progress on that avenue, resorting to military action is patriotic at the very least. i'm not arguing about israel's right to exist. they have every right. nor am i anti semitic. i have a good friend that lives in israel and fought in the recent war against hezbollah in lebanon. this is one of our more frequent conversations, but i wanted to get some more american perspectives. i am tired of uneducated moonshine drinkin rednecks sayin to hell with the arabs. now i do think that the current situation varies GREATLY from any other conflict in the middle east, past or present. and islam is supposed to be the religion of peace right? so why are more people killing their fellow human beings in the name of islam than any other religion? food for thought

i have little knowledge on the subject so i'll keep my opinions to myself and leave these answers to someone who knows better.

I will say this though lots of religions have some hypocritical views,

Palestianian leaders are currupt run by proxy leaders from Syria and Iran. They fill thier pockets with U.N. cash and do little to spread the butter. Hamas & Hizbulla prey on the unenmployed, life sucks mentality, of teenage & middle aged pal men for suicide missions hopeing the fam gets a few thousand buck ( saddam h. was paying 10k per mission) and they 72 big breasted virgins.

Did you know Israel supports all of the Electric, Gas, & Water in Gaza. If they wanted to persecute the pals they would cut it all off .
Let's see how many cholera, and other plagues would sprout overnight. But no the IDF can't bomb the pals ,Hamas, Hizbulla and others the world will condem it why you think the IDF lost 100 soldiers fighting a rag tag militia they had to restrain themselves because the world is anti-semitic.

Now I'm really going to nibble at this hook here. You say "God himself kicked the Jews out of" this land the US and UN gave back to the Jews. I'm not even going to address that statement. I'm not overly brushed up on my Bible Studies but I am a believer, by the way. I'm definitely non-denominational though. Zoikes this is a hella can of worms. I'm going to be sure I understand:

So you are saying the Palestinians have major beef with us (U.S.) stemming from this 1948 land deal and the fact that the US is in bed with Israel today and Palestinians are getting killed as a result of our selling of arms to Israel.
You are also saying that since the Palestinians have squatter's rights they are justified in resorting to some military actions as resistance, but not suicide bombs and the like. This conflict you speak of is not to be confused with our Iraqi occupation or any of that current snafu, correct? And you also raise the question of why so many are killing in the name of Islam.

Hmm. Sounds a little like the original occupation of the New World and the ability of the settlers to justify the killing of Indians by calling them "Savages".

Well the last question regarding religion is easy and is the only one I'm really going to answer: Human nature. Never does man kill so completely and thoroughly and with such glee as when he kills in the name of the God he worships. Christianity and pretty much every other religion is certainly included under this guity blanket from ages past until now.

Also, The seven deadly sins are very real and are not just intended to be avoided by individual Christians (as is so commonly thought), but all nations of all faiths- particularly those in leadership positions. Ever since man's beginning he has "lusted" for power, "envied" other peoples' land, been "jealous" of other peoples' resources or wealth, etc.

So...once a country's/leader's actions are fueled by one or all of these sins-even if an entire United Nations agrees on said actions- the only end result can be evil. We were warned...and now the result is Terrorism and the like- one of the truest evils of modern times. When nations have genuine motives for resolve/"peace" behind "talks" and "deals"- and not hidden agendas fueled by greed and the lust for wealth and power- then we will see a decline in evil reactions. Evil begets evil...and it's easy for us to see evil for what it is in its raw form (i.e. Terrorism), but it's harder to identify when it's initiated by an elected official we may have even voted for.

Think about it: What did we gain from reestablishing Jewish people in Israel in 1948? What is the real motive here for the land deal? Did "we" establish a conflict which we knew we could generate national income from by selling arms to those we knew would need them? Yikes. If that was the motive then God help us all.

Innocent people should never die as a result of poor leadership, but they do and they will as long as leaderships continue to be motivated in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. Any nation. Any dollar. The average US citizen has no beef with Iraqi people/Palestinians/Afghanis/etc. or desire to make money off those countries (unless they are certain stock holders- but that's a whole new can of worms) but the average US citizen was certainly targeted on 9/11. Sorry for the digression- but it really is similar. There will be conflicts and Holy Wars from now until Kingdom Come- unless of course all Leaders of all countries learn to coexist without solely intending to make money off each other or occupy/rule their land. Greed. Envy. Pride. Sloth. Wrath. Lust. Gluttony. Maybe we should encourage the next Presidential candidate to listen to the Man upstairs? I don't know. You don't have to be a Bible beater to entertain the idea that we've gone wrong somewhere.
