She is correct, very open ended question. Usually the best tell tale is the head, they will look deprived in the head, when you start loosing head weight you are too low. Most dogs are going to show hip bones when being cut down, usally the hip bones shouldn't show but it depends on a dogs build. Again same scenario, most dogs will show two or three rib bones. Again, you don't want to see the spine either. So many different factors and you are the judge and jury on this. I hope some this helps you out.

i prefer dirt roads because they are usually more rural and private, you dont have much or any traffic, theres hunting club trails that borders our property i usually walk mine back there.

if you really want to condition your dog be prepared to put a lot of time and effort in it during several intense weeks ;)

I walk about 2h a day that I mix with some spring pole, flirt pole or some drag pulling (not on the same day, obviously) which gets him in decent shape, not anywhere near being conditioned :)

Use a long leash...record your times and slowly increase them in whatever exercises you are doing. Keep a close eye on your dog if he is walking funny...could be a pulled muscle or some type of injury...monitor the bottom of his pads daily.
Walking is ok but jogging is better....Get the dog moving!
But like the others stated...fetch, springpole or flirtpole are other things you can incorporate into the work schedule!

    YIS
