without Horry on the floor Hakeem gets doubled down by a 4, if no the 3....when Horry is on the floor the 4 and the 3 have to play straight up....Hakeem gets doubled down by a guard...and a guard has to come from a long way...spacing...matchups...that is the perception of a great player making everyone else better....the great players create matchup night mares themselves, but they need another couple match up night mares to win titles...barkley never had that..jordan did..bird did...magic did...shaq had it with both kobe and d. wade...d. wade did not have it last year but he had it this year...thus another title for wade...if pippen never comes along, or the outside threats of armstong..hodges...paxon...kerr...or the rebounding/defensive minded rodman....Jordan's numbers would have increased...he may have averages 35 a game for his career....but with a lot less titles...dominique and jordan dunked over the entire league....both scored tons of points...then along came the other bulls and the hawks did nothing to help the 'human highlight film'...thus he sold tickets and hotdogs for the hawks and the bulls scored titles...US1

  2. So when its all said and done, the Nets are pretty much the same as they were last year. Lets match up the NY/NJ matchup. Center big advantage for the Knicks. Power forward, big in the knicks favor. Small forward, huge matchup for the knicks. One and two, big advantage for the Nets. All this being said, I think they split the season series.

First of all Horry wasnt even the sharp shooter on the team. Throughout the years the Rockets have had plenty of shooters that were A LOT deadlier from 3 point range than Horry. Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, Mario Elie, Matt Bullard. I wasnt even gonna say Eddie Johnson lol those off the top of my head. And Barkley did have that. Did you forget he won league mvp and made it to the nba finals? He had Dan Majerle and plenty of other sharp shooters on the team. The players around him werent the problem, Jordan was the problem. They were good enough to make the finals. The stars make the role players better NOT the other way around. Jordan can score without Steve Kerr, Kerr is useless without Jordan. Yes the role players have a part in winning but at the end of the day a team is only as good as its superstars.

And the Knicks will should be good to go if Amare comes back 100%, They need a REAL point guard so they can let Melo be a scorer and not a playmaker. This will also help get Amare involved which is key. He was an MVP canidate up until Melos arrival

  5. WHo was the point that Barkley had. He was a great, great shooter.

  6. They have 2 point guards. Kid will back up. As far as Amare, he is just a dunker these days. Has to be better away from the basket.

Kevin Johnson and he was not a great shooter but the other perimeter players all were

  8. Kevin Johnson was a big time scorer. Maybe not a shooter. Fair enough.

I saw you lurking around Dream. I figure I'd liven things up on this end of the forum...

lol thanks and Amare has really improved his shooting. His mid range is money even with a hand in his face and he now also has added 3 point range even though i dont like him shoooting the 3ball. I would start Kidd just for his bball IQ. they have as much talent as any team in the league and i mean that. But JR and Melo are trigger happy and need a pg who will run plays and get them high percentage shots. They have that Kobe syndrome where they try to make difficult shots that they can make but they could get a higher percentage shot if they wanted. A true blue old fashion pass first pg is rare these days i tell you lol they all wanna shoot. Thats why cp3 and rondo are so good

  10. Fair assessment there Dream. As far as Amare, I'm not sold on his 15 foot game. But, if he's healthy, he will be a force. I like the other PG that they got back. I don't think the system suits him but he was a solid defender as well under Dantoni. Felton.

if youre talking about shumpard he is a beast! He will be a big part of their success. having Kidd play over him will just accelerate his evolution into a star. He will learn so much from Kidd. I didnt like Lin at all and they are better off without him and Melo fighting over shot attempts

  12. I thought they got Felton back? The guy that went with the Italian for Melo. As far as Shumpert, he is a 2. He and JR will share time.

raymond felton was very disappointing last year. He was overweight and did do what he was expected but yes he is a killer. I forgot they picked him up to be honest lol

  14. I do not know how he will flurish in this system. But, he will give them a defensive presence. Maybe he will come to play. Who do you root for Dream?

Not sure yet, there is no nba team in my area so i just root for players i like more so than teams. I like rondo and cp3 alot. Im just an all around bball fan i guess. i just like to watch and talk ish :p

  16. I got you. You got the trash talking down pat, Lol...

lol i learned that from my old playing days. Back then it was okay to taught so i got a lot of practice lol

  18. I hear you. Those were the days for the non pros like us. Was very good in the day and there was nothing like the cheerleaders after a big game. I miss high school...

it was not that Horry was the best shooter out there...he was 6'10 and had to be guarded by another big...free's up the middle....works...and i agree jordan would have scored with or without the others but would not have won titles like he did without them....jordan was jordan in the early years but had no help and the pistons had an answer...until they had to guard someone else they had MJ's number...he would still drop 40...but with an L not a W....great topic....enjoy it...
