Gee, do you really think gun laws should be questioned in the US?

Gun related crime in the US is all we hear about over here. You can say whatever you like eg."guns don't kill people - people kill people" etc. I certainly don't know the answer but there is a big problem in the US. We had drastic revision to gun laws after one particular mass shooting (Martin Bryant - Port Arthur Massacre) and Australia, proven by statistics, is now much safer relating to firearm crime. Too many guns + too many "gangstas", haters, religous nuts, maniacs etc = trouble.

People shouldn't go around shooting people for no reason, but gun control is not the answer.I have more guns than I probably even realize and I'm relatively safe, lol Stricter gun laws won't stop people from getting guns, very few of my guns were bought at the store actually and I could get about any gun I want without having to pass any checks,it's all in your connections :-) But the sane people don't go shooting random people and need guns to defend themselves.

Gun control is the answer. Without them you can't shoot people. We had a gun amnesty here - millions of guns destroyed. Sure, there are still (illegal) guns around and yes you can get them. Simple maths though. Less guns = less shootings. It is this exact attitude - "need guns to defend themselves" along with the "right to bare arms" that is the root of the problem. Social change is never easy but some positive steps need to be taken. Your fabulous collection of illegal weapons (probably also at risk of theft) you have at home would have been of no defense in a movie theatre, restriction of guns (in particular to those who may not be considered sane) could have been. There will always be exceptions and ifs or buts.

  4. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Remember, there is another dictator waiting that will profess How Lucky the GOvernment when its people don't think...

This is a completely ludicrous argument. Gun control is on no level the answer....the same folks that will blow your top off because they can are (believe it or not) the same ones that will still have guns even if they are outlawed, lol. Gun control does nothing but put responsible gun owners in between a rock and a hard place. Give up your guns or be an "outlaw"....don't worry the crooked ass lazy cops will protect your stupid ass...oh wait you've already been murdered, better luck next time. You say less guns = less shootings, but to me it's more of the less legal gun ownership = higher probability that a responsible, law abiding (or however you wanna put it) average american gets murdered because they were put at a disadvantage of not being allowed to protect themselves or their family.

Of course it "ludicrous" you clown. As I said, it comes down to social change and attitude. Neither of which, clearly, you are able to see or understand. I also stated that I understand there will always be guns, illegal or legal. However, simple maths dictates that if you have less guns you have less shootings, or can you not see that either? By your logic everyone should have guns? An opinion shared by plenty of people in the US? It's tools like you that make me glad I live where I do. We have gun toting rednecks too, obviously just not as many.

Wow, cryptic. I'm not sure what you're talking about. I'm not talking about any conspiracy theories, goverments or any of that crap. I'm talking plain and simple - do something about guns and reduce the number of shootings

Safety in OUR country has nothing to do with gun control. It's a much deeper issue, none of which is any of your business. Remember this, OUR right to bear arms assured us a VICTORY once before and it will keep us safe in our homes when we lay down to rest. God Bless America

Yep, you're right of course, none of my business. You keep spouting (and believing) your propaganda and patriotic bullshit and continue to shoot shit out of each other (and other nations), I honestly could not care less. How dare I suggest that gun control of some description (in your once great nation) may prevent a few more innocent lives being lost.

Sure less guns = less shootings. Why we're at it,maybe ban cars=less wrecks, ban cigarettes=less cancer, ban dogs=less dog bites, neuter the new babies=less potential rapists when they grow up,just ban everything and put everyone in a big bubble.I like Australia,I really do,but their gun control is ridiculous. As far as needing guns to defend yourself and your family you do.My community is like most rural, and most everyone owns guns and our violent crime rate is pretty low as with most communities such as mine.Wonder how we can all have guns and not go around shooting each other. Our last homicide in my town was actually done with a baseball bat and not a gun, guess we should ban baseball too.In the shooting statistics, what the gun grabbers fail to mention is a large percentage of gun deaths is idiot criminals killing other idiot criminals in the large cities (big loss) others are people legally defending themselves against criminals shooting their attacker (again big loss),others are police officers shooting people (sometimes justified, sometimes not unfortunately) and I won't lie, there are some homicides and gun related accidents but when you break it down not as many as the gun rights weirdos would have people believe.I can tell you this,if you are attacked, you better not think you have time to call the police and have them do you much good.It takes a few seconds to kill someone, but even if it took a few minutes,in several places the police wouldn't have time to do anything more than come out and clean up the mess the attacker left behind.I know where I live it could literally be anywhere from 15 minutes at best to an hour response time for the police to get here.An elderly store owner down the road from me reported a break in and the police took 90 minutes to get there.I'm a pretty firm believer in protecting myself and not having to depend on anyone else to do it for me,because in all honesty cops don't really care. By now you probably can get an idea of where you can stick your social change. Here's my take on social change,it's nearly always bad,not just bad but horrible.Social change is turning this country into a nation a pussies, between the gun control, and people wanting us to accept everybody for who they are and their weird dumbass ideas the human race is seeing how fast it can flush itself down the toilet. Regarding my "illegal" weapons, why don't you reread my post carefully, did I say "illegal".No I didn't,so don't try and catch me admitting to anything illegal and don't try to "lawyer" talk me and try to put more in my statement than what's there.Do I have lots of guns, yes I most assuredly do :-) are they really cool guns, possibly but I never said they were illegal did I.You don't have to get every gun at your local Wal Mart to still be a legal gun owner.I've got lots of fun toys that Uncle Sam will never know about, and you can bet you life that I carry every day and will shoot someone if they need it,but not random people. All gun owners aren't crazy, like you would like to believe. The only change i'm ready for is when I go cast my vote to replace our POS president with a new POS president.I hate Obama's ignorance on the gun control topic and I finally agree with his first campaign slogan,CHANGE.I hope we do change after the election, lol If guns are so bad, explain why most rural American communities where a large percentage of the population are gun owners have low homicide rates and the states that allow CCW permits are safer places to live.Explain that.I'll tell you what gun control would do. The only people who would not own a gun are people like you of course and people who obey the law to a fault and are always a "good little boy" just like our wonderful government leaders tell them to be.People like me who obey the law usually will still be free thinking enough to acquire guns, although we wouldn't be violent criminals we still want to be able to protect ourselves and families and also possibly acquire food in the event of a natural disaster, economic collapse etc. The real criminals, people who wish to rob, rape, murder, otherwise just cause us harm will also acquire guns. And not the kind you'll be getting at the local sporting goods store either,if you're going to get an illegal gun best make it a good one.And they will usually, unless they're out of their mind, skip over people like me and break into your home, rape you and your children, rob and kill you. At least my household possibly could defend itself while your's will be waiting for the cops to get their fill of donuts at the local cop shop and maybe or maybe not protect your gun grabbing, liberal thinking ass.So while they may have a submachine gun, you're there with a kitchen knife at best, and that's only if your precious government doesn't think it's to sharp for you.People like you need to wake up and realize the person responsible for your protection is YOURSELF,quit being pussies and want someone else to step up and be a man,be one yourself and protect what is yours. The police is pretty much just good for arresting someone AFTER they committed a crime, they rarely prevent the crime from happening.Who cares if they execute the guy if your dead.Doesn't help the victim any.Gun control has never worked for the good and it never will.

I have a feeling you are the type of person that can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Why? Because all data and statistics are in direct contradiction to your ideal of gun control. It has been proven year after year that gun control and strict gun laws do not decrease murders or crimes committed with a gun. In fact, the opposite has shown true. But, I guess you think that places such as Chicago and NYC are the hubs of safety with their strict gun control.

    lol.....

Where do most shootings happen? In gun free zones.

Exactly,in gun free zones where the shooter has the only gun.It makes it a lot easier when no one is returning fire.

on a spiritual level Sikhs agree with you. Part of the religious dress is to carry a short sword. This is to be use in defence of the weak. But usually a 2inch ceremonial sword in worn as a necklace for practical purposes. If those sikh all had a side arm 24/7 then we would be talking about different story. The right to bear arms is fundemental to the US. It seems strange to outsiders but nut jobs arent the only ones that can pull a trigger.

The problem may lie with the sheriff having asked Cowboys to surrender their side arms at city limits and not being able to enforce the rule of law....... It may be time for a Posse to do some lynching.

@ hammerhead, I feel that these shooters should be mercilessly shot themselves. By a line-up of the victims family at that. Sad and disgraceful that someone would open fire on defenseless people or persons for their culture or color of skin.

I do agree with this. Any solution to reducing the number of criminals? I know there is no blanket solution to this problem anywhere in the world - suggestions? Greater and better (fair)access to health and education for a start would be one of my ideas.
