A Stacy Bridge Road woman reported Tuesday her missing dog had been mutilated and killed.

The woman said she had been having trouble with her blue pit bull puppies going missing. She said two puppies were missing recently and she found one in a wire trap someone set on her property.

After that incident, the complainant said, she contacted a Rio Drive man and he removed the traps and returned her puppies.

On March 29, two more puppies disappeared, the woman said.

At around 2 a.m. Tuesday, the woman heard a noise outside her home and went to investigate, the report said. In her backyard, she found one of her puppies had been killed after being mutilated. After making the discovery, she heard what sounded like people running through the woods in the direction of Rio Drive, the report said.

Deputies found footprints leading toward Rio Drive. They tried to find the two brothers the woman had mentioned but were unsuccessful, the report said. However, deputies left word with their father for them to contact the sheriff’s office immediately.

The woman said the puppies are valued at about $1,500 each.
