suddenly dog aggressive

Discussion in 'Training & Behavior' started by prettypittie, May 8, 2011.

  1. i have a 11 month old pit girl named Zi. She is not yet altered.
I have had her for about 3 months now. The first month i had her i also fostered dogs.Zi played great with the other dogs and one particular dog was like her best friend. Well, one day just out of the blue Zi was playing with the other dog and got aggressive. The other dog almost died. Zi went right for her throat and wouldnt let go.

I dont foster dogs anymore because I am scared that Zi will possibly kill them. She just all of a sudden no longer likes other dogs. However on our walk a couple of weeks ago a small dog (mayb e 7lbs) came up to her and she was friendly.

My mother is sick and has to move in with me. She is bringing her shih tzu with her and I am just scared that Zi will become aggressive with her.
I have always been a multipul dog owner and I am upset that Zi might not allow me to have any other dogs.
is there a way to make her where I can have multipul dogs safely?

yep, seperate em. DA is what it is and you cant train it out of a dog.

  5. aww :( i knew that DA was a big possibility when i brought her home. she was so good with other dogs... i guess i thought i would get lucky and she not be DA.

Is it possible that she would be fine with smaller dogs, since she has so far only showed aggression to large dogs.
no matter what, i shouldnt trust her alone with a cat or a small dog, correct?
i am a new pit owner, and i admit getting her was not a thought out decision. she was next to be PTS at the pound and she was so happy and sweet.

Which is why I stress to everybody I see, meet, and know... stick with mutts and leave the bulldogs to those who know better.

Do yourself a favor get a differant breed of dog!Always expect a pitbull to fight. Its all they know, some will get along with other dogs but most won't.Or NEVER let it around other dogs your choice?

  8. thank you.

if i was to rehome her, how could i go about doing so safely. At the animal shelters here they get put down.

hamster balls are the way to go

  11. no seiously. i cant let nothing happen to moms dog. that dog is her world and she has had her for 11 yrs.
i just got Zi and she'd be the one causing the trouble.

    anyway...

would it be mean for me to keep Zi tied outside on a runner while im at work? and when im home I will just keep Zi on a leash or in my room while the shih tzu is out, and mom can put her little dog up and night Zi have the house while the shih tzu is in my moms room?

and what about moms cat. should i expect Zi to eat it?

Put the cat and tzu on the chain and let the bulldog stay with mum.

Its probibly best to find her a home that isnt around other dogs, someone responsible enough to handle her.
Run an add ask around dont take her to the shelter.
    CRATE HER THE TIME BEING.

  15. .... i am just going to keep her seperated. even if it means she will be on a trolley cable most of the time.
atleast i know she will be walked, fed, and taken care of.

Tried the hamster ball. Lasted about 15 seconds and then it was snack time.

its called turning on and with the breed it is a very common thing. Is it possible to keep her and have other dogs well yes.... but not if you dont know what your doing, to be honest if I were you i would give her to a foster with no dogs it would be the safest bet IMHO

If you care about the dog that is your job.Keep it safe and out of trouble. If you do tie the dog outside make sure to do a search on a proper chain set up.If the dog gets loose you will have bigger problems.

  19. can someone point me in the proper direction to find a chain set up?
