    ABK Rest In Peace

Well, yesterday at school, guess what I had to deal with? A loose bulldog & a loose labrador running around & fighting amongst the kids at recess!

I will just call the dog a bulldog b/c while it looked like an APBT, it was a little large & thus may have had AST in it.

You should have heard the teachers inside the building talking about him! They were literally freaking out & saying things like ... OMG it's a pit bull! He's huge! Those dogs are vicious! Blah blah, blah. Of course NONE of the teachers left the building to protect the children from this "vicious menace!"

When I went outside I found a dog who was about 60 lbs, well cropped ears, great muscle tone, black nose, medium brown coat, white chest, 4 white sock feet & blaze running up his muzzle. He was gentle as a kitten & even came when called.

Anyway ... school policy requires AC be called to pick up any loose dogs on the school's campus. AC came & took them away. The bulldog was the sweetest, most loving dog. He wasn't even trying to fight the lab, the lab was the one attacking him & he was just trying to defend himself.

A teacher & I finally got them separated. Another teacher saw some scars on the bulldog's head & immedately pronounced him a "fighting dog." Of course, she ignored all the scars the lab had all over HIS face! But I set her straight right quick on the scar issue & pointed out that the scars probably came from that stupid lab attacking HIM!

The lab aggressed on ppl as well, but the bulldog just sat there quietly & even tried to shake hands w/ ppl. Sadly the bulldog will probably be put down as we have a no-adoption policy at our shelter concerning bulldogs. But of course that stupid lab is going to be released to it's owner.

I called my husband to see if he could come pick up the bulldog & tried a few bulldog friendly friends I knew, but no one could leave work to come pick up the dog before AC got there. Usually it takes them 2 friggin hours to respond to a call, but they were on this one pretty quick. I guess b/c it involved a "pit bull." :(

The officer who picked the dogs up said he saw the bulldog riding in the back of a pick-up around his neighborhood, so hopefully he can find the dog's owner before it is PTS, but I don't know if they even have a release policy concerning bulldogs at our shelter. I know they aren't adopted out & any strays they pick up get are immedately PTS.

The school nurse even poked her head out of the building while we were sitting & petting the dog (but didn't come out) & told us we were in danger of being bitten. I rotflamo. That bulldog wouldn't have bitten a flea. But I guess since he was a "pit bull" we were all in mortal danger.

When they picked him up I made sure to tell the officer repeatedly that it was the lab who attacked the bulldog, that the bulldog was not aggressive in any way. The officer didn't say a word. He just looked at me like I was an idiot, leashed the dog & walked away.

So if you can, pray for his bulldog. He was friendly, sweet & beautiful & certainly doesn't deserve to die b/c he has a stupid owner!

    Thanks for letting me vent.
