Top handle is used for off the ground cutting in a bucket or climbing. Its not for felling trees.Very dangerous saw even in experienced hands.Ive never ran one and wouldnt lol.

Same thing happened to a guy up here about a year ago. He survived. Saw pictures of his throat sutured up. One of many possible ways of dying up there.

A top handle saw is like the one on my picture to the left. It is saw that should be used only for arborist climbing operations, but some have found a variety of uses for them including but not limited to wood sculpting, carpentry, etc. It is recommended that both hands be used to operate saw up in a tree but experienced arborist take liberties with this an it is not unusual for one to find oneself using the saw one-handed. The possibility of kickback or over compensating for weight coupled with awkward work positions can lead to disaster or worse yet death.

All other chainsaws have a handle behind the actual machine that force one to use both hands. You should see an 880 with a 52" bar we use. Only way to cut 6 ft plus diameter cottonwoods.
