Those are great pictures and that is a beautiful looking hound who sounds like he is far more then his looks. My compliments to you on your dogs hook up and how clean his area is, nice to see after seeing the opposite in a different threat from another member.

Thank you for the kind words. IMO, a man that doesnt rake and clean there hounds area's shouldnt have them. Over the years i down sized my yard from 33 grown hounds to 12, to 9 , to 7 now i have. We all have a better quality of life. I am happy with the time i have now.

Thank you scratchin dog. Im greatful for this site. Gamedog has
helped me in many area's with this worlds greatest breed. Also, i made a few true friends slong the way. A world of information and knowlege is on this site. It also helped me get a few of the Best hounds i have ever owned. I bought Redjohn and his bellymate sister, Stone Row Kennels Repo-girl from The Kennel here at gamedog, I also became good friends with scratchin dog -Stone Row Kennels. Lady Rampage (rip) was a very fine woman that i also bought a pair of great hounds from, Rampage kennels Townsend's Major, and Rampage kennels Townsand's Raven Oden aka "The Razor" We became close friends too. I have had difference's with some folks over the years. Thats just life .

 

Thank you for the kind words. So far, I am personally very inpressed with this hound. Starting with his "insane drive" showing to have a good mouth, 'As he loves spring pole work, tug a war, ect. LAlso just very
hard to the touch muscle's, Great conformation, and a Rock steady temperment. Which Imo, is very important and also overlooked by some . I getting him ready for a taste of the wild as we have alot of 'hogs' here in good old S.C. that need the fat trimed off of them ! Lol. Yet turning 2 this December 10 th 2015. So im getting Redjohn into shape, along with myself as i believe that its required for both of us to be in good shape. Some might disagree, yet I like to get in top shape with my hound . How avout you all ? Dex enjoys that grind time ! :nono:

 

I don't know about the US but chasing hogs in Australia will show you pretty quick if you're unfit. I hand walk a lot, also run them off horseback and hunt on foot so I like to think I'm in decent shape. Still, I'm glad they keep reasonably close to my pace or I'd be left long behind

 

Well said. I also love hand walking. I have gotten a few hounds in the past up to 20 miles a day . 10 in the am, 10 more in the pm. That has shown me great results in my hounds and myself. Add some chain dragging, spring and flirt pole work. Run also like 50 yard wind sprints, with a good diet, and proper rest. Imo, it is amazing at how good of shape we get in after say 6 weeks. Bonding time as well. Thank you for the suggestions. Ps. I will keep you all posted.
