You won’t feed as much Evo as the next brand to keep the same weight. Say 3 cups of Evo compared to 5 cups of brand “X”.

If you supplement it should be with vitamins that help assimilation, blood flow, and digestion imo. Like Slim said feed the “soup of supplements”, then Evo or what ever as “dinner”. It’s the quality of the fats and proteins you feed, not just the percent.

Every dog is different too. Ppl get caught up in “the numbers”. Example: let’s say I’m a mesomorph in body type compared to the next mans endomorph. Let’s also say we both may weigh the exact same. I can eat a large pizza by myself and won’t gain a pound, literally. The next guy may smell a cheeseburger and gain 3! Dogs can be the same way. Each dog can be a new case compared to the next

I don’t use it for maintenance, only for a set event. 2 28# bags should get you through, or close depending on you and what you got goin, to a 6-8wk on 1 dog. It got me through 8 weeks aiming for 58lbs, we weighed 57

  4. The soup is a mix of supplements. RF1 is a “soup” imo. You can read the back of some of the performance powders and mix up your own, or close to it. Or just buy what’s available, like RF1, k9 superfuel and the like

And it literally looks soupy.. I for one can vouch for the RF-1. Moe turned me on to it and i seen a BIG difference in recovery in just days.

I used EVO for years, with great results, then it got recalled. Backed off for a few weeks, then after I continued it, it got recalled again! EVO did replace every bag I had in the house tho (I had six bags). I'm actually considering going back to Tast of the Wild or......ProPlan. I have had excellent results with Pro Plan.

I hate that RF1, it's too messy. I love MVP products though. Clean, easy to feed and great results!

It looks like someone puked in the bowl by the time im done mixing it up with all the feed and raw i put in there lol. Dogs love it though and it works. I say find whatever works for you and use that.

For the very small time I fed regular Sportsmix I didn't like it and the naturals is the same price here as Victor and I found Victor to be better feed so I always chose that. I am in the process of switching from Victor as my maintenance feed to Muenster. Y'all should look it up and ask your local feed store about ordering some to try. It's great feed for a great price. Small company who only wants to deal with mom and pop feed stores. I'm paying $29 plus tax for 40lb bags. I'm saving a few bucks a bag vs Victor and they have almost the exact same ingredients. This is the formula they are being fed currently.

Treez I remember Muenster from years ago. My buddy got Iams (back when it was great maintenance feed) delivered by semi from a company that carried it and several others you couldn't get at a regular feed store.

The ingredients have really improved by the link you sent, I also feed Victor 24/20 I get it for $28.90 but it had been inconsistent over the last year or so. I'm gonna check into the Meunster, thanks!

I don't like the smaller bags with Victor and totw, I wish they made a 40 pound bag.

For just everyday yard feed I buy "overflow" bags of feed. The local mill makes and bags a few known brands and some commercial ole roy type chow. As food moves down the belt to be bagged some falls over the edge into a catch bin. At the end of a run they take the catch bins and dump them in ugly generic cattle bags with a shitty label (generic dog food 15/10) but what' in the bag is decent feed. They slap that aticker on in case aby gets tested its at least 15/10. Generally I'll end up with good grain free feed for $12 a 40 # bag. If anyone else is close to a mill or can get "overflow bags" I suggest looking into it.

  16. Thanks for replying to my dumb ass question.... I understand...im going to do more research on supplements (there's quite a few over here that are used on racing dog's).. Another dumb ass question (sorry).:would u still use these supplements if u fed a whole raw diet???...

I tried raw once for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. Looking back I didn’t know wtf I was doing. Maybe Slim or someone more experienced with that can chime in. For me, I’ll give em a chicken quarter or 2 for couple of days out the month with some kibble. Other than that, straight kibble. Imo supplements, when done right, make every athlete better. I’ve argued this about human athletes too. Just my hard headed opinion tho

Is Sportmix the one at TSC that has a red ticked bird dog on it? I think Iv seen it.
We have fed many of brands over the years.
Most seem pretty comparable these days.
    Grain free..gluten free..
As my yard grew(to 6) not as many as some but I had to explore ways to save.
Nor only checking the ingredients of every food I have fed, I also always look at other brands also.
I currently feed Diamond naturals. Results vary.
I really like the idea of the overflow bags.
That sounds like a good hustle. I assume they sell bulk. Sounds like various types of kibble could be in it..types and brands. Big name and private mfg.usually lead back to three main dog food mills it seems.

I fed Diamond Naturals for a few years and would only buy the Chicken and Rice.I switched within the last year to Wholesomes Grain Free and yep its at TS and is Sports mix version.of grain free .I think that's right.Anyways the.Wholesomes to me is a full step ahead of Diamond Naturals .Little more expensive because you only get a 35 lb bag instead of 40 lb.Its a pretty dam good maintenance feed.I like it.

  20. Thanks again.... When u feed raw as maintenance (iv done so for years)I think it's unbeatable (pain in the arse though).and as slim says in one of his posts there is no right or wrong way to do it.just give them any thing raw (seriously what ever u can get,but don't over do it with offel)in any order...it will be rear for u to see any imbalance with this method... But as for shaping I'm not so sure.the dog might get more of one thing then the other... Your right about supplements when done right.I just no very little about them......thanks for ur help....
