something's wrong with old jack

the old man is looking lethargic ,yesterday he got a little wobbley before breakfast and i had to talk him into eating fine at night feeding ,this morning he would not eat this eavning he wouldn't eat until i put some leftover steak in the food ..ate the steak and a little food had to talk him into eating 2 times to finish ,,as far as the dog goes for a few years his eyes have been getting shady like gooing blind to me he see's fine he can catch a piece of lunchmeat from a short distance as far as breeding goes last year around this time he bred sucessfully one strange thing he's been trying to get a moulthfull of dirt i thaught he was tryin to eat cat piss or somebody at work told me yesterday his akita became diabetic with similar symptoms we'll go to the vet tomorow please help me with my main man jack

he's an oldtimer 12 in may wen his next sceduled selitive breeding is sapost to be in heat i say diabites beacause the guy at works dog started with the eyes then gained weight since the nationals i've been so broke had to feed cheaper he's been back on the food that he was last dooing well on 4 almost 2 munths this thing about a moulth full of dirt started around august last year

 

just checked his gums looks like the white bloodcell count is ok a little hard to tell beacause the inside of his moulth is mostly black is noway dehidrated

 

Good luck with him,I've got an old dog(not a bulldog,just a mutt) that isn't acting good tonight either,won't eat and just wants to lay around.I figure it's just about checkout time for her though,she's 15 and a half.Hope your dog pulls through.

phill do you think the cheaper food could have maybe done the diabetes? hopefully your boy can pull through and get a couple more out... how is he doing?

I think a blood profile will answer all of your questions. Older dogs can have so many issues, and diabetes is a big possibility with those symptoms and with your dogs age!!

 

lying around is nothing new he loves the electric blanket finds it emeaditally when left on ,,all 4 of my dogs walk at least just under 1/2 mile daily i expect him to lay around

 

ya lots of them, years back roger scott gave him his and my first ribbon 3rd place thats what started it all i would never got involved in attending if it wern't four jack and roger thanks roger,,, cheaper food i think has little to do with it the dog is so good even when cheaper food was used he always got his extra protien somewhere its hard not to give him some meat or poultry scraps

 

his gums thismorning weren't looking as good as lastnight the vet said he's enimic drew blood will have the results tomorow morning the xray showed that his anal gland is swolles he drained it wasn't not much junk 1st time he ever had that done t, the vet said and was no news to me that his breeding carrer is nearing the end and maybe have him sniped but the blood will tell us more tomorow gave him a shot of antibotics and this medicine called baytum 1 a day and said give him some raw chicken or beef

why did the vet tello you to feed him raw meat? thats what i feed my dogs. what kind of kibble where you feeding him by the way? also did the vet telll you to debone the meat or leave bone in the meat?
