Congrats. She looks like she did good.

I had a AKC registered JRT I got from around my way about 9 years ago from some fellas who hunted with them. I went to go pick up the pup and the guy said, "come on with me, you'll love this". He brought the pup out, she was only about 13 weeks old at the time. Brought the dam out with her and said let's go for a walk. We went into a field next to his home and walked around a little with the pup and her mother. We came across a shallow groundhog hole in no time at all, they are everywhere around here. The mother flew down it, grabbed about an 8 lb grass rat and drug it out where the pup immediately hit it while the mother was shaking the shit out if it. They killed it pretty quick for such tiny dogs. I was like WTF? I'll take her!. Bought her right then and there.

Lol long story short, the pup lasted about 5 months with me before she bit my daughter in the face and I almost shot her with a .270 at my parents house in a private sub-division they live in. Luckily my mother and my daughters mother calmed me down enough to change my mind while I had already loaded the gun and was dragging that bitch outside. Talk about over kill. That shit would have incinerated her little ass and no doubt would the police have been involved since it's a uppity type area.

In hind sight, the signs were there prior to the incident and I should have took proper steps in keeping them separated but we all have our moments of stupidity and that was definitely one of mine.

My daughters face immediately following the incident looked far worse than it really was after we cleaned her up. You couldn't even tell today. Caught her with a cutter thru her top lip puncturing through to her bottom lip so there was a lot of blood and I just kind of reacted insanely when I seen my 3 year olds face covered in her own blood because of a dog.

I ended up giving her to an old farmer around here that had no children. She's still living a good life at about 9 or 10 years old now. Have to dig out some photos of her, she was a very good looking little bitch, just would have never again trusted her around my kid so she had to go.

I always liked the breed though. Even still and even after having that incident happen. Neat little dogs. Good luck with them. Hope they work out for you!

Man that bitch would chew on me right now if I tried to touch one of her pups.i have to coax her away with some meat and grab the pups to change out bedding.Thats a mean bitch either way AGK ,would not be good around kids.My males are sweethearts ,just happy go lucky. My bitches are bitches. She is not a typical looking JR.Throwback to something I suppose but she is a good dog.Im the only human that can touch her.

I'm glad it worked out all the way around, especially your daughter.

I'm glad the 'cooler heads prevailed' as here he would have been administered the silver pill that fixes all problems canine. Probably before I thought it through.

My sister had a Jack Russell a long time ago. He was a sweet dog. They never had a people problem with him unless they touched the their daughter. This dog could give two shits about any one else in the house just do not touch the daughter. He dad use to tell us you could come in whack the family and steal all the stuff in the house. The dog had no worries. Reach out to shake the kids hand and your ass was bit.

His hardest lesson was killing chickens. He killed a game rooster once and they beat his ass with the dead chicken for two days. It broke him. Anything else was a target. Four- five years the first business of the day was to clean the porch of whatever he killed that night. You name it, he killed it.

    Good luck with the pups.

Like AGK, I had a few minutes to kill. Chimed in.

I been raising these around 20 yrs , males always more tolerant of people and kids more so than females.I have had females that were happy go lucky but not many.I just got use to them over the years.Aweful house dogs, just aweful and not meant to be inside dogs.My girl that just had the pups is over 10 yrs old so I brought her inside to keep her comfortable snd also to keep a close eye on her.She is doing extemely well.

Congrats. There dog could not stay in the house either. He was holy terror in the house.

They did not have a cat within ten miles. My bro-in-law said the toughest lies he ever told were when neighbors said, "Have you seen my cat?". "Nope, sure haven't".

I rode with my buddy to a show one time for Patterdales and Jack Russells. They did this rat killing thing in a small box, maybe 4'X4'. As the other dogs were killing the rats I thought it would have been a breeze for the serial killer at the in-laws.

Good luck with the pups. Hope she raises them well.

Slim ,funny thing is I have a cat.Jack Russell's can't get to the cat because they stay in a chain link pen sectioned off in the yard.Bulldogs will tolerate the cat but the cat don't push his luck.Jack Russell's would kill him in a minute of they could get to him.I gave my dad one and his wife was a cat lover and had several. He thinned them out and then started on the neighbors .He wound up giving me the dog back. She still won't let me get close to the pups lol.physco look in her eye

That is good. The last two litters here were rough. I had five raised three which was not so bad. Then one of the better bred, better performing bitches I have had seven. Was the greatest Mom in the world for 7 days. Then massacred all of them.

Jack shit all over me on his board because I had a crazy bitch eat six puppies and then die while I was at work. It is hard enough to raise puppies but to do so 24/7 and work to is just about impossible. A good dog around here is worth more than her weight in gold. I keep ending up with the socio-paths.

On the same page. I guess things get a little different when the dogs are your livelihood and your daily job. If I did not have a job I could stand by and rake shit as it hit the ground. LOL. Unfortunately it has to lay there til I get home.

Brood dogs no different. I do all I can and hope to get them to three or four weeks and wean them as early as I can. The first three weeks is always the toughest around here when puppies are coupled against my work schedule.

    But so it goes.

Not everyone can sit at home jerking their dog off and making a living off the dog backs like Jack. Most have to find a balance between work, family and the dogs.
