force fed nothing.it was no illusion or imagining the 9/11 attack....nor the london bombings.....nor the attempted scotland bombing. im of the thought.....its very simple......building a mosque of said religion of the most evil attack on the site it was dealt....well.....it beggars belief!!.....and you moderate muslims are so thankful of the usa for allowing such a building to built there....get on your blower and high horse.....hit the streets of new york in support of the democratic choice of allowing that to be built there....do it publicly....no faces hidden....and shout to the extremists you dont want them in the usa.....I BET YOU FUCKING DONT!!!!....

Its not a mosque being built. Its a community centre that includes art studies , culinary school , swimming facilities and yes prayer SPACE within the building. It is NOT a full blown mosque.

Also people have lost there lives in the middle east and over the cloaked illusion of freedom & democracy. Again hypocritical not allowing an institute of religion prayer space when they are churches and other religious buildings/institutions dotted near ground zero. Allowing one religious institute a building for worship and not allowing another well that contradicts the whole freedom of choice , freedom of religion ect.

I was also told that it was private owned land that they where planning to build the community centre (with prayer space) on. I dont know if that is true or not but dont we all preach about the right to do what we want on our own property aslong as we are not physically hurting another person?.

In all honesty I would prefer that NO religious institution be built in the area if building a "mosque" causes offence in that area then maybe that area should be sectioned as a zone where no religious institutes should be built including churches ect

And I have to answer one of your questions with a question - you are right - WHEN have we seen American muslims standing up for the wrongs their fellow Islamists do? That's right - you don't!! You might get a handful here or there. But heck, Dearborn has the largest muslim population outside of the middle east (I grew up 30 min souht of Dearborn). Do you see anyone protesting there? Do you see anyone protesting anywhere? Very few. That's probably b/c they're scared they'll have a fatwa slapped on them & be killed for speaking out agaist Islam! As for Lt. Col. Hensley, do you even know what he said? If not, here it is:

HighCoastHiker: Sir, I have read the Bible - many times. It says if you do not take care of your own, you are worse than an infidel. By letting muslims mark their territory & claim their victory by building a mosque near ground zero we are NOT taking care of our own. We are rending the hearts & spitting in the faces of those affected (or most of those affected anyway) by this tragedy.

You can play the "big lib on campus" if you want, but for me it is not a matter of bigotry or reverend Rush (I do not listen to Rush Limbaugh BTW. I find him offensive.) but rather respect for the dead. If the shoe were on the other foot I would not support the building of a church near a site where Christians mass murdered innocent muslims either. It's a simple matter of respect, something I think this muslim group & their supporters obviously seem to be lacking.

But people's hearts & minds will not change so long as the moderate muslim majority stays silent while the fanatical muslim minority slaughters innocents & then spits in the face of their memory. Titch pitbull: You are right. There is more to this facility than just the mosque. But this was only done to make sure they got approval for building. A "cultural center" sounds much more appealing & less offensive than just a "mosque." All they are doing is putting lipstick on a pig. Muslims are not stupid. They know how to take over countries. I'm sure you have heard the old Arab story about the camel & the bedouin. I won't recount the whole story but I will say it ends up with the camel making innocuous, innocent looking little requests & the bedouin agreeing. The camel takes one inch at a time, slowly, slowly & in the end ends up kicking the bedouin out of his own tent!

EDIT: I forgot to add - to answer the original question "who wants it built" I have no problem with a mosque (or "cultural center" if you will) being built in NYC. I just do not think it should be built near ground zero.

I guess Christians think its OKAY to kill young boys because of the religion of their house hold right? muslim do speak out about these political groups that use terrorism, some people need to learn the difference between religous and political views. only one distorts the other.

U can judge a whole religion based on what a small percentage have done. there has been some radical christans who have done some CRAZY SHIT! Should all christans be considered guilty by association? Who is against bsl? same concept...
