personally i like the 30-45 lb wieght range. big dogs just eat more and drop bigger terds. making the maintence cost for them alot higher. in my opinion i think anything over 50 is a dman monster. plus little dogs in my opinion are longer winded and dont tire as easily. alot of the people i know really dont want any dogs over 50 lbs too much either for the same reason. like i got a young little bitch that right now sit's about 27 on the chain and would probly do about 26 conditioned. she is on the small side for me but i wouldnt trade her for anything. she is young but is already showing her worth for her chain space. i also have a 1xw that is sitting about 36 on the chain and he is a real nice little ball of energy with wind for days. plus another reason i wouldnt ever go out looking for a big dog is it is easier for them to destroy their chain set ups. i mean if u think about the force a little dog hitting the end of his chain when he sees a cat and the force of a big dog hitting the end of his chain. there is a big differnce. i believe in using over built products to make sure my dogs dont break chains, tie downs and stuff like that but with some of those bigger dogs they break it anyway. plus how many competing dogs do u see at the higher wieghts none or very few making it harder to find a dog to prove your dogs credibility.
but that is my opinion ill get off the soap box

My personal preference for weight would be 30-45. The biggest one we've had was 55 lbs. and that was a little too much for me. However, if he is a good dog..that's all that really matters.
