I'd like to find a 44 mag revolver with a 8 1/2 inch barrel that is affordable yet dependable.

Lee, that Ranger is a cool mini revolver, do you plan on buying it? Here's a short vid on the Ranger...

I'm far from an expert with firearms, but had an opportunity to handle a Kimber 1911 .45 acp and a Baby Desert Eagle .45 acp. Both were pretty accurate and comfortable to handle. I liked the feel of both but I was drawn towards the Eagle, maybe because of it's all-steel construction, weight and shape. Would like to hear some opinions/feedback on these pistols....

you'll probably find a lot of glock guys and stuff like that on here rather than 1911 fans.
    I like the 1911 though.

I own 2 glocks and three 1911 (two colts and a llama) and im looking to get a kimber 1911.Now just for target practice,i like the feel and accuracy of the 1911's ,and that's what i keep in my truck most the time.,but if i had to pick one to carry,or get me out of a sticky situation. It would be an easy decision for the glock.Mainly because of its dependability, and more than double the ammo capacity. Its also much more comfortable to carry around. But i do love the 1911.

no, i probably wont be buying it, i already have a mini 22 mag, so theres really no need. if given the chance id have taken the break top over the one i have, but mines got alotta sentimental value.

as for your 1911s, id go Kimber over the Magnum Research any day of the week, and if you get a chance look at Remingtons new 1911 as well as the Auto Ordanance. i havent handled a Remington, but its getting alotta buzz now and the AO guns are killer pistols for the money.

I'm a huge 1911 fan!! Shot the Kimber, para and colt. All are great guns, not to big on glocks. Although glocks are very good guns, I'm not a fan of the handle angles, not as comfy for me as others.

Love my Glock, I am also a big fan of the Springfield Armory XD's, great for the money(1911 fans might like these over the Glock as it has a different grip style than the Glock)-not huge into 1911, but heard the Springfield is a great buy for the money as far as 1911's go. Any one have the Judge? or an equivalent? I have heard good things about them as far a PP

FN 5-7 (5.7mm) on my hip or near by :) Ya'll should check out these 5.7mm rounds that FN produced for their P-90 rifle & 5-7 pistol imo the best round & firearms that is offered to the public.

i NEVER buy in on a new cartridge...ever. years back all the mags and writers were saying the 6.8 would take over and the 5.56/.223 would be a thing of the past. that hasnt happened yet. the .45GAP was gonna finally put the .45ACP out to pasture, and im yet to see that happen.

i like the 5.7 as well as FN guns but if i cant go to the local WalMart and get ammo in a pinch, i dont want it.
yes i reload, but im not gonna buy a set of dies for everything i shoot.

Only if you're protecting yourself from snakes or are shooting at the head of someone point blank. If you're using the .45 colt out of it, why not just buy a better gun? I wouldn't waste money on it.

This is why i am moving from NYC.
This is why NY has a budget problem and is losing population. Bloomberg's family is protected by guns but a average person cannot.

It's wrong it's unconstitutional and it sucks.

Since we're talking guns I can't see spending over $350 on an semi automatic .45, 9mm or .40 when Hi-Point exists.

    Unless it's for competition purposes.
All you want is Bang Bang 6 shot Revolver .357.

But I'm not dumb enough to buy a pistol in NYC $400 fee between prints and reg. and 300 every two years for permit renewal *uck that. Dumbass NYer's keep voting Democratic and wonder why only the Criminals have guns and they keep getting robbed. One thing a theif knows is practically no Yuppie has a pistol in their home. Easing pickings if you can get someone to print out permit list for a block and you can tell who the yuppies are.

Then assholes wonder why the keep getting robbed. Wouldn't try that sh*t in working mans or the street or the hood tho. DUmbass Bloomy says guns come from over statelines but if they didnt come from over state lines people would make them in their home's. Better yet they would get shipped in like drugs. Then for real only the worst type of Criminals would have them

Mutually assured destruction is the only way to go.

But i'm dont with my rant (Texas here i come) and buy a Hi Point if you just want the firearm to go bang better yet buy a revolver. And I love the mossberg.
