How do you all figure out how to get bitches with silent heats bred. Been waiting on this bitch for a long time and most my females just started their second heat since i got her so i asked the previous owner and he said she has silent heats. Never dealt with this issue.

How do you all figure out the right dates on females who show no signs?

 

Keep a eye on her vulva it will swell up but u might not see any blood trust me I got 4 mutt pups I'm trying to give away now my bitch didnt even bleed but her vulva did swell up but I didn't see blood so I didn't think she was in beat 2 mo later mutt pups everywhere

 

Progesterone tests

 

Not all bitches in silent heats show swelling of the vulva sometimes they show no outwardly signs at all boogie that makes sense since progesterone is a major hormone involved in the regulation of ovulation and menstruation. Do you know how much a progesterone test costs round about? Or does it vary from vet to vet?

 

It varies and has to be done every other day. You WILL know EXACTLY what day the bitch ovulates though.

this is just my opinion. but due to breeding many different breeds and having many bitches with fertility problems i suggest don't bother breeding such bitch. Its likely that she will pass that trait on and you will continually have to contend with the same problem with the descendants down the track. Thats just my opinion.

If she is friendly you could put a horny little terrier in with her and when he starts jumping her you can start the progesterone tests.
