Shipping dogs from over seas?

Anbody know the price range for shipping dogs overseas like from italy to florida?

 

What are you looking to get shipped to FL that you cant already get in the US?

 

I had two experiences in sending two dogs (separately) in cargo to Vancouver from Moscow with a stop in Frankfurt. The weight of the first dog (together with crate) was 29.5 kg (65 lbs) and the shipping (including crate's price) turned out 1102$. The second dog weighted (with the crate) 28.5 kg (63 lbs) and the shipping (including crate's price as well) turned out to be 1091$. But the price for direct flight from Italy to Florida must be less than that I think!

 

Air canada was 275$ each way on international flights but I was on the plane not sure if you can do it if you are not a passenger. With Air C they only fly one dog on each plane which is defiantly a plus with this breed and they handle animals very well.

 

Yes, shipping a dog with accompaniment is usually cheaper. Even taking into mind the price of ticket for a person. If the dog will fly without accompaniment (passenger), it will have to fly in cargo

 

Shipping from or to overseas can be pricey. It usually costs much more than the dog. Call customs and ask what is required. We did not do this and got a surprise when we picked up a pup. An extra $500 fee for customs to bring in a vet to check the health of the pup before they would release it. :eek:

Some Countries have a quarantine policy, I believe Australia is one? There are extra fees for that?

Shipping a $500 dog to EU...shipping fees....$650 not including crate, health certs, gas or travel expenses. It's based on the size of the crate so the bigger the dog the more expensive it is.

 

a frind of mine offerd me a pup for free, downside was he lived in SA the shipping would have cost me a G with everything involved. more then likely there would have been some other hidden charge. so be prepared to pay out the ass & also be prepared to never see a return on your investment.

 

Plenty of good dogs in Florida. Georgia. LA. Bama.

To every one wondering whats in italy, i hope to get a female pup from black mamba kennels ive been e-mailing the owner back and forth and i would really like an iron kid puppy wich is a strain of the alligator bloodline they seem to be good succsesfull bloodline in europe and im that kind of person that likes to have something nobody has its not the main reason why i want 1 i did my research on the blood an i really want one.Plus im a big alligator blood fan.

Some countries let pups at the age of 8 weeks to enter the country without rabies shot. BUT some airlines won't take a pup younger than 14 weeks to cargo. They would let 8 weeks old pup to fly with accompaniment but not in cargo. So for cargo it is necessary to make a rabies shot at 12 weeks and then wait one month after that and only then it is possible to ship the pup in cargo. What you need to do is: a) to decide if you'll ship the pup in cargo or with accompaniment; b) think about the airline you'll be using and contact them about the details and rules about shipping dogs with their airline (as they are not the same in all airlines); c) find out local regulations, like rules of exporting dogs from Italy and rules of importing dogs to US.

Also a small tip on trying to save money on shipping: some airlines let you buy or even just rent a crate from them. Which is usually cheaper than to buy one in pet stores (this is so for local prices at least!). The difference in prices for crates in the airline (buying one) and pet stores was about 100$ in my case. So ask in the airline if they have such service and compare the prices with the stores before paying for a crate in a pet store. Also from my observations, crates in US are cheaper than in Europe. So compare them with European prices, if you won't come to Italy yourself to pick up the pup and take your own crate with you from US.

 

Well depending on the job i get i dont know if ima do it yet i mite just buy a pup from this local guy whose got a yard of dogs but buying a dog from overseas is somthin ima do sooner or later

 

No problem! I am just sharing with you with my experience of sending dogs to North America. I also hope that I'll import one from European Union to my place this year or early next year. But it is too early to talk about it, the breeding I want is just planned for this fall. So I am waiting for the breeding to be done and pups to be born
