I understand ya. If the pup didnt bend a push rod he still may run the 1/4 ok.

at what age would you test drive the car tho if it isnt already warm :)

^ LOLs. But getting back to the topic, you shouldn't test them until they are ready. Many a good bulldogs weren't ready till the age of 2, and some not until the age of 4. Even the pups that had the attitude and were hot aren't necessarily ready and when you put a pup that just got hot onto stiff competition, many times you risk ruining them too. You gotta go slow.

For me I would keep it on layaway for 18 to 24 months before I drove it off the lot.

18 to 24 months is still a pup. A lot of them aren't ready yet and those that are, well they look the part, but they don't have the ability.

If the new car sat on the lot, had it's battery charged, was topped off with the best gas for two years, and didn't start?
I wouldn't want it! Since there would be others on the lot of the same model that will!

That's a car bro, cars and dogs are different, seeing as how one is alive and one isn't. But seeing as how you are using so many car analogies, I'll speak your language.

You can have a car that is topped off with the best gas, batteries fully charged, but if the engine (this would be the apbt's maturity) isn't top of the line, then you should not drive this car to the tracks.

please stop with the cars.. thats just annoying!!! and if the guy/girl said the dog was a cur ask him how did he finds that out? details and if he was then he should just give it to you.. or at least sell the dog dirt cheap. shyt papers dnt mean anything and this is a fine example. and how much time did the person spend with the dog before? did he even train the dog right? i doubt it because the dog isnt even old enough to train in my eyes. look at it like this mike tyson might have natural ability to k.o. somebody but do you think he would have had the success if he wasnt getting trained by an EXPERT.. try to get the dog as cheap as possible since he's considerd a cur and put him in ur own bootcamp.. if all else fails you walk awaty with that much more knowl;edge and experience:D.. in my case money well spent

Well you gotta understand that it is a PUP. No pup should be schooled since they aren't ready. This is like me asking you to solve calculus equations when you haven't even learned add/subtraction. Just can't be done.

exactly.. same goes for breeding a bitch. if u want it done right then wait for at least 2 yrs.. its like this, with these dogs u gotta have patcience!! period or u wont stand the test of time. when people start rushing in at shyt u fuck up and make mistakes.. thats y i think he should get the dog for as cheap as possible, wait til he's 2 1/2 or 3 try em out after he has been trained somewhat and go from there.. make sure u know what ur looking for tho when u try em out so ur not waisting ur time.

I believe 2 1/2 is the time to go, though there are some that needs 3 years to be mentally and physically mature. Nowadays, a lot of newbies rush and test their pups when they are 12 or 18 months. That is just far too young for many dogs.

Pitboy I'll tell whats irritating, Threads on a public forum like this without a disclaimer to protect the posters! And posters tryin to argue a point that go'es against pretty much what the universally accepted protocol for the topic is! I wonder why? Kinda makes ya go HMMMMMMMM!
    Feel me?

If the man/woman behind the dog is more important than papers, why would anyone deal with an idiot that would do something that stupid with a pup? I would run, not walk away. Smells fishy all the way around.

yup yup.. it all bols down to this tho, u have to crawl before you walk. learn all you can before you own a dog and post like this would never even come up. but at the same time this is how you learn. im only 24. i have one dog wit no papers lol that was a gift so i keep her in the house. i dnt plan on breeding her and basically she is a family dog. but i have been around these dogs my whole life and im still learning. patcience and wisdom is key
