I was just wondering. If you had dog A. and he was good and bitch B and she was good, do people do repeats? I read on here maybe once but my thoughts is why don't people do more. Especially when you have a good litter already? For example you get like 4 outta 7 that are decent to good? Wouldn't more breedings allow more chances to get a good dog? Instead of breeding to different studs or bitches?

If you have a breeding that "nicks" and you are getting what you want w/ more than 50% of the pups that's a winner! If 2 are really good and 2 are decent to good out of 7 I was always happy w/ that and would do a repeat . (Next would be a brother or 1/2 brother.)

I did a repeat cause the 1st lit only one live bitch ate the rest so I did a repeat the only pup grew up to be perfect 2nd lit was even better I had 4 out of 6 acting up early and still acting good but still young to really tell lol....

ok so then if that hypothetical pair got good dogs and you repeat multiple times and keep getting good dogs, wouldn't those dogs make rom faster than lets say breeding to different partners because you already know they will have a better chance at throwing consistent pups? In a way it's kinda like taking the short cut to rom.

you have to take into consideration the ages of the dogs that you want to breed. it takes at least 2-3 yrs to see the quality of the pups that breeding produced, so at this point how old are the parents? are they still producing....are they still in good health....are they still in the hands of the breeder who did the original breeding? many breeding tried to be duplicated but alot of factors contributed to it just not happening.
