Is registration really important? What if you have a good bulldog, but no papers? I know we all say, "papers don't make the dog", but who honestly lives by that quote...

Popeye....that saying is one of many things that breeders of these dog include in the way they breed dogs. Most all have their own principles. That is one that many maintain as a common way. I haven't registered a dog since my first year with them. That's probably a long time before you were born.

Parchment guarantees you nothing, yet making sure you know how your dog is bred is an important thing. If you're getting dogs from another or others, you need full trust and/or sight seen. If you're breeding your own, I feel you should already know how they're bred, of course.

Yes I understand that. I have this excellent little female from a top notch active kennel. I knew these guys for about 5 years. Just last year, I had the opportunity to own some of their stock. These guys never charged me for a hound. But, they don't register their dogs. It's not a problem for me because I don't care for the papers. I know exactly how she is bred. But if I wanted to breed her outside of the camp, the other party may want to see that piece of paper.
