What have the dogs done to deserve being bred? any titles or certain traits that you believe will be reproduced or bettered from the breeding?

On the stopping an early breeding thing - seperate the dogs - PROPERLY.

The only way to prevent your dogs from breeding is to seperate them. In order to know how long to seperate them you have to understand heat cycles. The time a female is fertile varies, and there is no pin point "day" or what not. So instead just keep them completely apart. Male dogs are able to get out of many types on confinements when a female is in heat, so make sure it is secure. If you have any doubts, do not use it.

I think what most are saying is most people try to have a purpose for breeding their dogs. By purpose I mean they have accomplished something that the breeder likes and would like to recreate in the offspring. In general that is the best reason to breed dogs. :)

If you don't want your dog bred then put her up when she comes in and keep him chained up.Personally,I'd recommend not breeding them at all unless they show to be the kind of dog they should be in the future.Don't breed them just to sell pups, there's not much money in it if you breed the right kind of dogs.If anything the money just about will go the other way.Do you even know how your dog is bred?

Sometimes I really don't believe some of the post on this forum.
I would suggest educating yourself on the breed first and foremost.
NEVER just breed two dogs just because you have two dog. There are many different factors that come into place when two dogs are bred. If you do not know these factors do not breed your dogs. You can do more damage to the breed than you think. When you own an APBT IMHO you have become accountable to the breed overall and not just your two dogs. What we do or don't do with our dogs have an affect and effect on all of us as owners. I don't believe in biting off someones head for asking a question and it's important to work with people where they're at, but damn!

Your female, may come in heat as early as 6 months of age. I would highly recommend that you spay and neuter your dogs as soon as possible. This breed is not for everyone, including you, but since you have them stick around here and read some old posts and try to inform yourself about the dogs.

some folks just dont have any common sense.... if you dont want dumb ass answers dont ask dumb ass questions, tell you what do yourself a favor and take your dogs to a shelter... they'll probably get better care there anyways!
