Question about Shots

I want to start giving annual vaccinations to my dogs myself rather than having the vet come out - although at least in Georgia only vets can give rabies shots. Is a 7-way shot from the feed store ok for everything other than rabies, or is there something else I should do?

the 7 in 1 is fine if the dog is older then 4 months, but the 7 in 1 doesn't protect good against provo so thats something you have to keep in mind.

Annual booster shots are an unnecessary expense. There are harmful side effects to giving MLV vaccines every year. <O:p</O:p

I would not recommend getting your vaccinations from a feed store. Some vaccines in the 7-1 are not needed or recommended. For example: Canine adenovirus- because it can cause visual impairment, Corona virus because is not significant, Giardia it has not been proven effect. Most dogs that end up having an allergic reaction to the shots, it is most likely from the Leptosporosis.

Thanks for the info. Texas, I would love not to give them annual shots! Is it necessary to do it at least every few years?

No, but if you are in doubt and think your dog is vulnerable just have the vet run a serum titer test. <O:p</O:p
