exactly my point. it is the fascination with the forbidden...the more you tell people how they don't need something the more they will find a way to get it...give them all the real details about the hardwork, the fact with a pet bull, a modified electric mill, and a joint qualifies you for the RICO act and they can come get everything you own....tell them about how most homeowner's providers will drop you like a hot rock when they find out about 'pitbulls' on the property....it is a little more to ownership than walking one down the road hoping you are as tough as the 'rep' of the dog you are walking....i agree, most that want bulldogs need one like they need another hole in their head, but put the info out there...don't make it seem like you are holding all the cookies and he can't have one...US1

people get sick of stupid questions asked by stupid people, dudes talking about starting a yard with his first dog, hope he does get put off and ends up with a bully.

if someone wants to learn then learn jumping online and searching for pups is just stupid

did any of you dumbasses start your yards off with a freakin' cat???? maybe if he came by your house and shovels shit for you that would earn his way into being a dogman??? i think not...he asked for a puppy to get started with...you shitheads are so afraid that he may actually breed something and beat you to a sale...answer the questions as if you had a crumb of a brain in your head, or just let it pass....US1

you so onto it slim. im sorry for my errors.

why dont you hook him up with a dog then if you think the satement about "starting a yard" was normal

all these shitheads have the same opinion.

its also the way the questions are asked, if you look around enough[and with you post amount you would have come across it] you will see the same people you call "shitheads" answer well worded questions by newbies in a very different matter.
personally i wouldve answered the question very differently had he taken a better aproach.

and the fact that you can claim that its about selling pups shows what you know about it.

as funny as you obviously think it sounds, shoveling shit, changing water feeding and aiding in working the dogs in someone elses yard is infact the best way get your first dog and then start your own yard.
how he finds someone who will let him do that is another question, but it is possible if he spends the time looking.

how did you get your dog? did someone straight off the net hook you up after you asked? i may aswell ask

maybee you should start a thread crying about how harsh everyone is and you can write ten plus pages on how we can change our etiquette.

do you want a tissue? or havent you finished having your little cry yet?

Well, Slim I figure it like this... I get a female pup (first one) she ain't worth breeding so she ain't worth starting a yard off of but since I don't have any type of knowledge of what I SHOULD start a yard with (because I didn't take the time to study the breed or anything I just jumped online and got a pup) I got a yard full of sway backed cow-hocked undershot bowlegged dogs that have all the desire in the world but can't back it up cause their bodies won't let em. OR I can read every damn thing bulldog that I can get my hands on talk to as many people that are in them as I can, learn the bloodlines, the traits, the flaws, and everything that I can, THEN get a female pup (if that's what it has to be) raise her, LEARN what it is to breed and little things like what to do if the bitch don't want to feed the pups, breech births, when to know that a c section is needed, ya ya ya. And then start a quality yard.

Mmm. You could be right about that. Might be why there's been no response from the jackass.

actually the first dog i ever walked, cleaned up after, shoveled shit was a bitch named Red Lady. She was off Snooty and Molly Bee....i was barely a teenager....in between i shoveled shit, cleaned water bowls, fed, and dug holes....at the same time there was Ch. Cotton...and his littermate 2XW Willie....on the chain right beside them was a dog straight off Bass' Redboy, called JR.....and many years later now I have walked behind, shoveled shit, cleaned water bowls and dug holes for my own....trust me champion shit is no easier than any other shit...my point was tell every freakin' newbie exactly how much time, work, and dedication it takes...tell them how it is not worth it...there is no money in it...when you shit on them it sounds like you are keeping the good stuff all to yourself....and it is not whining nor crying, and no i do not need a tissue...the problem i have is that i have seen the decline in these dogs over the last thirty years...first hand....know what it takes to stand on top of a bulldog from birth to burial, and every thing in between...and that decline is even more steep than it has ever been...and every time i see dumbasses helping screw it up for every one i else...i stand up and shout...and if that steps on anyone's pansy-ass toes...well they will just be stepped on...point blank...bottom line....if you have been offended by my making a solid point about the dogs...the newbies..and everything in between..either you are a dumbass or have pansy-ass toes....US1

You know what slim you have a point, really you do. I just might be going about it the wrong way and the only excuse I have is because I'm still young (at least from your point of view) and I ain't learned that thing that "old people" have... you know how they say there's more than one way to skin a cat? well I ain't learned the other ways yet, for me there's only with a knife (figuratively and literally speaking um not the cat though) so I apologize. This was something my brother was trying to teach and instill in me before he died... I'm still learning. Thanks for giving me another perspective to see it from buddy.

well slim then you can see it from the same angle, just a different perspective.
no pansie toes here just find it hard to gather logical thoughts with a bunch of people taking the wrongest aproach possible, ive been a prick to many newbies but ive been very understanding of many others, and it does get pretty repetitive, to give a serious and decent response when 95% of the people you take the right way with throw it back in your face, when asking why their dogs hung itself after theyve chained it to close to a fence or tree, or that they cant understand how there bulldog scaled a seven foot fence, because after being told by twenty or so people they should chain and contain they refused to be "cruel" and tether there wonderfull new petbull.
or when they ask what to expect of a four week old puppy because hes showing very game!
or why after being told that they should keep their dogs seperate, only to come home to a dead rottie, because their bulldog wanted to "play" with it, and "its weird because they never used to fight, even when we feed them out of the same bowl"

im all for giving hints and help, and i would look to get plenty of my own here when needed, but the wording and attitude of the posters asking stupid arsed questions that could generally be answered with a search on the site or even smarter buy a few books which as we all know can give great help on the care and health issues these dogs have and learn a bit of history while they are at it.

patience is something i find hard to grasp when the other person in question is failing to use simple logic in the situation.
Am i an arogant asshole? yes, im the first to admit that, just like my father just like my grandfather, its how i was brought up.

my issue with each silly non thought out question, this op being the current example, was the fact that the statement of having a first dog, to start up a yard was a question that grated and will grate me again if someone else asks it.

if a few straglers happen to fall off and are put off by a bit of overly tough love then so be it, i have noticed however that a very high percentage of newbies that cop it after not thinking about either reading it up or using their brain, take it all onboard and then continue to start a swifter learning curve to owning the dogs in the right way.

Good Post JY. And to add to that the newbies that catch hell and continue on is, imo, showing the character trait of the dogs themselves, which again imo, shows WHY THEY are attracted to the dogs, they just don't know HOW to go about it, that means they just need some instructions on where to go to get the info they want, and two often end up with the same intolerance for stupidity that the veterans showed to them.

this is my point exactly....go back and read the first ten posts from this thread...it was a legitimate question...the second post was an excellent response....then not sure why you can't say 1st apbt and starting a yard in the same sentence...anybody here that started their yard of apbt's with something other than an apbt??? then the fish comment, and then like most posts, that famous group called the 'bandwagoners' chimed in...and it went down hill...i am not saying the guy has good or bad intentions with his 1st apbt....but he started off in the right direction and he was shit upon like he had the plague...i'm not defending him, as i have no clue who he is or what he wishes to do..but what i do know, someone very early in the post could have said hey, drop me a PM, we'll talk....where are you located? maybe i know someone in your area that can give you a heads up...instead the 'educated and the knowing' just shoved him to the open arms of the nearest peddler to him...and that backyard breeder (dumbass term)/puppy peddler willl be the very next topic we shit all over...although when we fail to educate we, and i mean we, become that peddlers enabler....i'm not the bulldog educational police, and i have not annointed myself do-gooder status, but it is much easier to give a push in the right direction and let nature take its course, than to toss shit bombs and then bitch about the smell....US1

Did you start a yard with your FIRST APBT? Not knowing anything about the breed or where to get one, whether she was worthy of being bred at all? Just got a female APBT and started a yard off her?

yep.. i started my 'yard' with my first APBT...she was an inbred Molly Bee dog...she did all the right things to help me learn....my second two dogs were littermates from a bolio/eli litter....in the mean time the Molly Bee dog checked up....the next two worked out...added the Mims/Redboy blood to the mix....and before you know it I had a 'yard'...was lucky enough to learn from one of the best conditioners/handlers/dogmen out there....but yep, my yard started with the first bitch i ever bought....

LMAO, nice slim, but the way I am taking his post is he wants a female he can breed to start his "yard" (why are we putting yard in quotations?)
