Anyone anywhere close to this area would be appriciated to help stop the ban that is being proposed in Crossett. This is too close to home.

It is right across the Louisiana Line, about 40 miles from my front door. 42 miles east of El Dorado, about 2 hours 20 min. south of Little Rock, about One hour west of Greenville MS, and 1 Hour North of Monroe, LA. How's that? Big GP town. Lots of hunters.

Would welcome anyone's advice on how to handle this, as I have no hands on experience dealing with a city council. Any and all advice would be helpful.

I'm a fan of the University of Oklahoma. Crossett is the hometown/birthplace of Barry Switzer, coach at OU from 73-88. One of only two coaches to win both a SuperBowl and a National Championship at the college level. I'd bet money he'd be against something like this.

    Anyway, any contact information?

I grew up in Crossett. The Switzer's were very prominant folks when I was youth(Judge, DA, etc).

Let me make this plain. I do not know where to start. Do I call the police and ask them questions?Mayor? where do I start? Walk me through this PLEASE!!

Write to your state senator and maybe the mayor. CC everyone on all copies. Example: you write to your state senator and mayor; on the senator's letter, at the bottom, put a CC with the mayors name. This way the senator knows you are also writing to the mayor.

The Mayor and the city Council are the people to contact I think. This sort of thing is normally done on the city council level.

I used to be an Alderman and once was a Commiteeman too. You can protest the matter in City hall during one of the meetings pertaining this issue. If several of us went and hit them up and put out the truth and held the floor I am sure they would get nervious and go another direction. Sort of like a filibuster. lol

Does it matter if I do not live there? They all know me; my criminal past, and how the Lord turned me around. Now I minister in the jail there. I grew up next door to the mayor, and know him pretty well. I will contact the chief of police and the mayor tomorrow.

Contact info. Do I need to get...? Pensooner you were asking for contact info, mailing addy?Phone #? Names? all of the above?

Can anyone email me some stuff to give to them? Info and such? Maybe someone here has a presentation already to go for such a case and would donate it to the cause? Any and all help is greatly appriciated. I will get what I can and report back tomorrow.

It should not matter at all you have a vested interest in that town. You may be the best person to talk to the mayor. The police chief doesn't have much say in the matter but the mayor has the Gavel and that is the person that leads the meetings. Getting with the JP's, Aldermen, Committeemen, or what ever they are called there is key also. They are the once standing up and complaining and blah blahing so getting at lest a few in your corner is good. They have to vote on everything. Most times they vote blindly as they are often bias or ignorant of what they are voting for and about.
