price?

as yous probaly guessed im new to the staffy scene,i keep lurchers and terriers.what is a fair price for a nice quality staff pup.im in the uk.

Price varies all depends what you are looking to pay , but why pay some silly prices when you can look up on the net or go to nearest dog shelters & thet are full of staffs in all diferent shapes & sizes you will still pay but not anything like what these pedelars want also you would be getting a dog that has been checked out & chipped plus dog gos to a good home its your choice .

 

Why not splash out and spend over a grand on one of those super blue dogs lmao

I still some what believe the best pups are given away...reason being the owners of the parents aren't interested in money and tend to have more love for the breed and finding the right home. I'd rather cull than wonder how something I bred is being treated and maybe adding to the list of shit owners who do nothing positive for the breed..giving a decent person a pup should give you the option of a pup back in the future and always find decent people will sort you out something anyway even if not money and just a bag of dog food...money doesn't stop idiots from getting the dogs I mean I don't see drug dealers wanting a bull for image being short of cash

 

Unfortunately finding that decent person is few & far between.
Reason being why less & less dogs are being bred from "genuine" owners.
I'm with you on the opinion of losing sleep from the thought of offspring getting into the wrong hands.
Sadly,many of those before us couldn't give a monkeys & money always came first & always will do.
No doubt about it that money can & will buy most of the better bred or proven dogs out there,regardless of future intent of the breed.

 

As you said gog123 it would be a shame if you knew one of your dogs were being ill treated & if you knew of it it would drive you mad knowing that the quick buck wins again , but most of these pedelers out their are in it for one thing MONEY nothing else not for the love of the breed , what im trying to say is why go & pay silly money for a dog you dont know nothing about , to be pissed off with all the hastle that gos with it ( training, walking , feeding ) only to give it up , thats where i would recoment trying to save a wee staffie from one of the shelters out there the places are full of them & yes you do get the odd one with attitude problems but with a bit of time then they always come round to thinking your way , i have rescued such dogs over the years & they have turned out good wee dogs , & if it doest work out then bring the dog back & let the shelter know why.

 

You want to go to some of the staffy shows and have a chat to people...Dont let people tell you that all blue staffs are shit because i can tell you there are not....

Colour and pedigree don't make the dog..pick a pup from parents you've seen do the work you intend for the dog..saddly most staffords aren't given anything that's actually work for them hence a lot of poor quality dogs..same can be said for their cousins though..I guess it comes down to money...people breeding pets for a quick buck..I'm not against pet owners I mean working a dog doesn't make you a dogman in my book because a lot are nothing more than prats wanting to boast and stroke their ego. Just don't rush into anything and benefit some mug who is adding to the list of people doing nothing positive for the breeds.

 

some good replies folks,i keep working dogs and most of us give the pups.i couldnt believe 4 and 500s for pet pups.

 

why is it that when it comes to dogs, all of a sudden money is a huge issue?

i find it funny that people will pay thousands for televisions and electronics and not blink even though the product will have a 5-8 year life-span and will be obsolete in an even shorter period of time.
but suggest a dog for the same price and people get weird.
my dogs occupy a role in my life that cannot be compared to anything else i own. if there is one thing i don't think should be "cheaped out on", it's a good dog.

Not saying i wouldnt pay for a dog jake...for the right dog of course i would it was more advice of dont give your money to someone whos only interested in money

 

livestock and used cars ,horrible things to buy . if it were me i would agree or negotiate a price on the phone , then when you see the dog you make your own mind up of its worth !
