I noticed a pretty swollen pimple on Buster's lip today, very simular to the type my Boxer used to get.

Has anyone else seen these and have any idea what causes it? Buster is about 10, this is the first one he has ever had. My boxer didn't start getting them till he was older either.

Sounds nasty (is nasty) but on my Boxer I could easily pop them. This one feels the same.

    Thanks,
    Rick

I had a dog that got these all over not just his mouth area (or something like it) it was called Foliculitis, it's an inflamation of the hair folical. pics would be more of a help though....

I'll get a pic up soon, busy tonight no time to deal with it.

He dosn't use a plastic bowl, its stainless steal and fairly clean. I read the other posts on this, and that was one cause but I don't think it is my case.

Bacteria seems like an obvisouse cause but heck, I've had zits and keep my face clean...

^^^ That's what I was thinking. My friend has a female that keeps them on her face. Haven't figured out what's causing them yet.

Maybe some dogs are just more suseptable? Kind of like people that get boils. Just a idea.

Our white bitch gets these a lot. As does the blue bitch we have. . so it's my opinion that dogs with more sensitive skin will get them from dirt, ingrown hairs, or whatever. Ours usually get them when playing in dirt or eating glutens.

Older dogs immune systems are more susceptible to disease than younger dogs. So, you may want to add some antioxidants to his diet. This will help raise his immunities.

my female had got scratched and bit when she was little by a GreatDane..she now has a scar between her front legs that doesnt grow hair...she gets them there alot and it gets really bad sometime. I dont know if it is from hair tryn to grow in or if its from where she lays in the dirt and that causes it..

  10. I've seen something similar to this, check with a vet but if it persists and it's just a small area wash it with a shampoo that has benzoil peroxide, should clear really good!

Synno....my god  there was a point I wasn't sure to continue laughing or throw up lol

The pimples are pretty common and easy to treat, just pop the ones you can and rinse with straight peroxide. It will dry the wound and kill off surrounding bacteria.
Neosporin ointment to finish, then keep them out of the dirt for a day or two.

Persistent cases should seek a prescription of 500MG Cephalexin
    for about a week.
