Pieblade?

What type of color is that? For the coat of the dog that is.

 

I think you mean Piebald? In horses it is kind of like a paint or a pinto I think.

Same thing. Go to Wikipedia and it gives a detailed description. A base coat of black with white splotches or spots. It gives a better descrip. on there but that is the general idea.

A great example of the piebald pattern/gene is in the Dalmatian breed. Piebald can be colors like solid black, liver, lemon, and even brindle I believe, in some cases. Probably a few other colors, I can't remember.

Piebald can be any pattern of white on a solid color or even brindle. I haven't read up on the genetics in a while, but I'm pretty sure the white covers the colors, rather than colors covering white.

Technically, the coat is color with white patches.
But yes you're on the right track.

White on dogs can be varying from white on the paws and chest to white covering the entire dog, leaving only one or two colored patches. Dalmatians just have a more extreme form of piebald. Ticking on a dog is also from the white gene; ticking is the color appearing 'underneath' the white.

It all depends on the varying degrees of the white gene in the dog

White in canine genetics covers other colors; what you call a white dog with black spots is actually a black dog with white spots.

I have no idea what skewbald is, is that a color in dogs?
