I know the pics aren't that good but I tried. He kept hitting the end of the lead so some turned out blurry. We have been cutting slowly over the past three months and he is down from 67 to 56 pounds. We still have a way to go but I think he is coming along pretty well. Especially since we don't train very hard because he is only 15 months old. Next summer we will get serious.

looking good so far- but i dare say you are at the end of the line as far as ~weight loss~ goes as he is almost too fine ( depending on the various pics), now comes the conditioning, and toning

Yea I'm not looking for him to lose any more weight. Thats why I inquired about adding muscle in my other thread. It has been 3 months since I have weighed him. I'm not hung up on how much he should weigh just that he is in shape.

In my other thread you said walk walk walk so I am assuming that is what I should be doing since I can't afford a proper weight pull harness at the momment? Thanks for the reply.

yup- i would say his frame looks good now, now its just time to sculpt.
yup- get to walkin...i hope you have some comfy shoes. even when you DO get a proper harness, keep up the walking-its great for BOTH of you

You can really tell the difference here. Is he neutered? If so, when did you have him done? My pup is getting neutered at 5 months and he is the exact same color as you dog and built very similiarly. I'm just worried getting him conditioned is going to be harder because he won't have the muscle definition of an unaltered dog.

Yes he is neutered. He was fixed when he turned one. I had heard about the muscle growth thing as well and wasn't sure if it was true or not so I decided to wait till he was one.

honestly I have a nuetered pitbull and I have no problems conditioning him. its all regimen. I have seen some gorgeous nuetered dogs in very well conditioned shape.

I'd love to wait longer, but my mom wants him neutered as early as possible so he doesn't get too "boy-ish". She's worried about mounting, marking, and aggression/territorial. Your's is a great looking dog too. I was looking at the pictures in your gallery and Benny could almost be Rocky's brother :)

I know a woman whose's (sp?) dog was neutered at a very young age ( ~ 2 months old). That dog actually "humps the air", well, sorry, I don't think I can describe that correctly ;)

I just wanted to say that neutering might not help a dog NOT developing über-territorial behaviour or keep it from humping on visitor's legs (or handbags... no, I won't go into details...). ;) So maybe you can talk your mother into waiting a bit longer.

Yeah, I'm aware of this because I know a lot of the behaviors have to do with training and not neccessarily testosterone. Also, I figure if he is going to become dog aggressive as he ages, that will happen regardless of whether or not he is neutered or not. I'll try to convince her to wait a little longer, because my 7 year old pet bull wasn't snipped until 10 months and he turned out just fine. He didn't have even close to the foundation training this pup has had either; he came with a lot of bagagge, so to speak.

Thanks guys. We walked yesterday down the beach for a long time. I have no idea what it was in miles but looking down the coastline it was deffinatly a long way.

Only thing that sucks is unlike you southern boys I have to take a 4 month timeout on training or atleast slow down a bit because of the snow and ice. If I owned a mill it wouldn't matter but that purchase won't come for another year.
