Jake Guffey, he was Jamie's nephew, or at least that is what they told. Wherever they showed up people got in trouble.

He was the guy that did in Ed Faron.

    Real crazy shit.

I heard him once tell a guy that if he were bitten by a rattle snake or copper head that there was no need to go to the hospital. Just take 1000mg of Vitamin C and ride it out. The sad part is that the kid believed him. I'm hoping he never got bit.

Not to hi-jack the thread....but his real name was Max Coats. He screwed so many people he changed his name to Jamie Long. He also used the name Lonnie Sykes. I knew him as Max Coats and not Jamie Long. I was looking for an American Bulldog and saw dogs of his catch down in SC. I contacted him and made the trip to Richmond, VA. When he walked into the drive I was like, this is fishy. Different names and all. I did not want to spoil a good deal so I held my tongue. He wanted a $1200 for a female puppy. He keep the papers. When she was 18 months old we would use his stud and he would get half the litter. The next breeding would be the stud of my choice and then he got 1 or 2 depending on the size of the litter. When I passed on the deal he hinted I had wasted his Sunday morning.

I then asked him a couple of questions that let him know I knew his real name and this guy could not get me out of his driveway fast enough.

He was slick as glass, and would cut just as bad.

Yes a big SNITCH. Guffey is the reason Art Parker yard got reided on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve at 6:oo am. The Sheriff Department and the Humane Societies remove about a 100 dogs out of Art Parker yard. We had some good times there in his yard

True. The first time I met him was at Art's. He had a male dog I wanted out of a litter that I had seen do good things. He then started telling stories and right off I knew he was full of shit.

I forget the year but a hog about a 150lbs or so got out of the fence and faced up to the crowd. I was about ten feet or so away. It was one of those quick moments where I say, "Forgive me for this, forgive me for that". LOL Luckily he turned and hit the woods. Little Art (Bubba, I think-been a long time) got this solid black Colby dog off the chain, His name was Guy. He turned that dog out and he ignored all the dogs pulling and snapping at him and he picked up the trail and off they went. The show resumed and in an hour or so he came back with the pig in tow, driving him like a wheel barrow. All in the front yard of his single wide trailer. Just a good a time as I have had in the dogs.

It has been so long so the names may be off. My buddy had an american bulldog off of either My Boy or Iceman. Whichever she was down there to be bred to the other when they came in and took all the dogs. With all that was going on Art tried to pay for the dog. Solid dude, rough around the edges, but solid.

Slim12 you are right art was rough around the edges and would tell you to go pound sand in a minute.like you said a solid guy.Art won his trial and the judge gave Humane Societies 10 days to give Art his dog's back. AS for Tom Guffey I don't know what happened to him have not seen him sine We all got Busted. The Attorney General at that time was Mcmaster's and now he's the South Carolina Governor. Now if I seen Guffey IT'S going to BE ON. IT probably will never happen Too many people in front of me. When art had those catch weight competitions there were other big name down at art yard not going to mention their names. people come from all over Florida North Carolina New York and Alabama Virginia. It was a big show

    I can only imagine.

We went to two or three times at his house. Toward the end it was legal, then illegal, then legal, back and forth fro several months. The last one went to at his house the local sheriffs showed up and I had the Oh shit! feeling. They walked up the hill and spread out. I thought we were toast. Then they asked us to move the trucks that were on the road. I think I moved my truck six inches and the deputy said, "Thank you, have a good time and be safe on the drive home". And it was a good night.

I went to one at the lumber yard spot and that is where I figured out the Guffey guy was a fishy dude. He asked a lot of 'don't need to know' questions, if we had upcoming events, if he could attend, if we had match dogs for sale'.

I had tried to buy a dog he had off of Two Eyes and Loca, and us much as I wanted that dog, I am glad we did not have that link in the coming months.

Apologize for getting this great thread off track. The pictures are really kick ass.

Good post slim.. It's important to learn from others experiences, both positive and negative.. If people done more fine tuning their radars to spot them 'don't need to know questions' then maybe save a ton of heart ache down the line.
