Performance Knls goes dock diving!

This month at our state fair they have Dock Dog competitions and of course I could not pass up the opportunity to do it with my dogs. I have been waiting for something like this to come to town and I am excited we finally get a chance to play. In the desert we do not have much water but we do get to the lake from time to time and the dogs love it!
So I went yesterday and took Tempest but she was not having it! lol she would run to the end and pause, then think about it and only jumped in a handful of times. So today I brought 5 dogs with me and tried all of them. I took Tasha (11 yrs), Vixen (9 yrs), Trinity (5 yrs), Tempest (4 years) and Siren (2 yrs).
Tasha and Trinity would only jump in on the ramp and not the dock but they had fun. Tempest finally decided it was fun and jumped in and I competed with Tempest, Siren, and Vixen.
Siren took 1st place in the Novice division with a 9'11" jump
Tempest took 2nd place with a 8'1" jump
in the second competition I did Vixen and she took 2nd place in the Novice division and got a Veterans medal.
So yeah I know it is not impressive jumps but I am proud of my dogs and they did make the Armature finals tomorrow. all my dogs would have jumped further but all three hesitate at the dock instead of just going full out. I hope with more training this week we will do better at next weekends competition. Here are picture from today and I will let you know what they do tomorrow at the finals.

Very cool, I take my dogs when I can. They really enjoy it and it takes a little while for most dogs to get used to jumping off the dock but they'll get it!!

So today was the dock dogs finals and Siren took 2nd 9' 7" place over all in the Big Air Armature Finals and that qualifies her to go to the regionals. Vixen took 4th place over all in the Armature Finals with a 8' 5" jump. Tempest unfortunately partial tore her ACL or bruised her knee bad at Schutzhund this morning and did not compete.
Here are their pictures from today, I am so proud of my babies because they had a big day today and managed to do well in the competition. This morning we had Schutzhund then Tempest and Siren had their final Therapy dog visit to be released from training and then off the dock diving! Phew! what a day!

Jaeger has an into to dock diving class on Sept 26th. I can't wait.

 

Good luck with Jaeger my dogs did ok but they did not so as well as I would have hoped. they worried about the edge instead of just diving in. But we had fun and if we had a place to practice I think it would help. Good luck make sure to post how it goes.

I wish I knew about dock diving back in the day! My girl Venus would have LOVED it!
