I've been considering patterdales for some time now, unfortunately I live in Minnesota and am not having much luck finding breeders. Also, I am not sure what job I can have this dog do in an area where it gets below freezing temps and at times 12+ inches. Our hunting laws suck, I had hoped I can take the dog out to catch a few rabbits, squirrels, etc. anyone live in a similar climate and own these dogs? If so what's their jobs

I'm not sure about where you live but patterdales are notoriously good earth dogs, meaning going underground and pulling out badgers and such like.

Yeh that's what I mean, I'm not sure on the laws there
  5. if you want a dog for rabbits and squrriles i would suggest a whippet or small lurcher. patterdales are earth dogs and the working ones will drop down every hole they find and will stay and shouldnt be able to be called out. and if you cant locate it under ground and unable to dig to it you could end up with a dead dog or never see it again.
